REPORTFROMTHECHAIRPERSONFollowingthe2016AnnualGeneralMeeting,MichaelGranthandedoverthepositionofChairtome.Michaelhadbeenintheroleforthreeyears.InacceptingtheroleIwasveryawareofthesignificantcontributionMichaelhasmadetoTracks,asaparentofadancerandthenastheChair.OnbehalfTracksDance’sboardandstaff,IwouldliketothankMichaelforhiscommitmentandenthusiasticsupportofTracksparticularlygivenhisdemandingrolesasSolicitorGeneralandmorerecentlyasChiefJusticeoftheSupremeCourtoftheNT.Approximately60%ofTracksincomeissourcedfromtheNorthernTerritoryandCommonwealthGovernments.Fundinguncertaintyduring2015impactedtheplanned2016ArtisticProgram.TheDarwinFestivalshowwasscaledbackfromtheusualtenperformancestosixandperformedindaylighthourswithreducedlighting.Thenumberofskillsdevelopmentworkshopswasalsoreduced.Extensivestrategicplanningwasundertakenthroughoutthesecondhalfof2015towardsthesubmissionofa2016-2020StrategicPlanfortheAustraliaCouncil.Happily,inFebruary2016TrackswasadvisedwehadsecuredNTGovernmentmultiyearfundingandinMay2016fundingfromtheCommonwealth.Thishasmeantprogramsandlongertermplanscouldbefinalisedwithaviewtoimplementation.Securefundingcameasahugerelieftoallassociatedwiththecompanybutparticularlythestaffwhowerelookingataverybleakfutureshouldthissupportnothavecomethrough.ManythankstobothArtsNTandtheAustraliaCouncilfortheconfidencetheyhaveshowninthecompany.TheTracksBoardisaimingtobuildamorediverseboardandtothiseffectVenaskaCheliahwasinvitedtojoinasa“youthrepresentative”.Venaskaisaformer/currentdancerwithTrackswhoiscurrentlystudyingmedicine.SheishelpingtoestablishofaYouthCommitteewhichwillprovideanavenueforyoungerpeopletohaveavoiceatBoardlevel.VenaskaisattractingnewideasfromsomeofDarwin’sexcitingyoungdancetalentandwelookforwardtodiscoveringtheoutcomeofthisconversation/collaborationoverthecourseofthisyear.NewtotheTracksprogramandtoDarwinwasBigDance,aninternationalevent,whichextendedourreachintothecommunityinthebeliefthat“everyonecandance”.PerformedoniconicMindilBeachatsunset,77DarwindancersjoinedintotakepartinoneoftheTopEnd'sbiggestevergroupdance.EventssuchasthisarecoretothephilosophyofTracks.

DarwinFestivalShow,“Landed”wassetintheMarraraSwampinthecatchmentareaforRapidCreek,theonlysignificantfreshwatersysteminDarwin’surbanarea.Thisyearsawareturntohighattendances,morethan80%,inayearwhenfestivalaudienceswerelower.TrackscontinuesitscommitmenttothelongstandingrelationshipwiththeWarlpiripeopleofLajamanuthroughthesuccessfuldeliveryofaMilpirriperformanceinOctober2016.Notableimprovementswereseeninschoolstudents’participationwhichisverypositive.Overthepasttwoyears,representativesofartsorganisationsthroughouttheTerritoryhavebeenmeetinganddiscussingtheestablishmentofabodythatwouldcreateaunifiedvoiceonissuesthatimpactontheartsandcultureintheNorthernTerritory.Late2016,theNTChamberofArtsandCulturewasformedandmeetsonamonthlybasis.Whileitisstillearlydays,IhavebeenparticipatingintheChambermeetingsandamoptimistictheChamberwillbewellplacedtopromotewhatthesectorhastoofferandexploreopportunitiesthatwillbenefittheTerritoryandthearts.ThisyeartheTracksteam,employeesandCommittee,hasseennochangesthusenablingideasandrelationshipstobeconsolidated.ThededicationoftheteamisakeyfactorinthesuccessofTracks.Thankyouall.LoyalvolunteersarecriticaltothesuccessoftheFestivalperformanceandIwouldliketothankeveryoneinvolvedfortheirenthusiasm,commitmenttowhatwearetryingtoachieve.Oursponsorsdeservespecialmention,notablyourongoingpartnersNewmontAsia-Pacific,SCTVandtheDarwinInternationalAirport.Manythanksforthesupportofallandourgenerousdonors.MaryDurackMarch2017

REPORTFROMTHETREASURER2016wasanothergoodyearforTracksIncfinanciallywithabudgeteddeficitturningintoasizablesurplusof$44,672onthebackofincreasedrevenueoffsetbyhigherexpenses.Trackscontinuestomaintaingoodexpenditurecontrolinadifficultoperatingenvironment.Withregardstocashmanagement,Tracksmaintainsahighlevelofliquiditytofunditsongoingoperations.Tracksmaintainsahealthybalancesheetwithnetequityof$738,194whichincludesreservesandretainedearningsfrompreviousyears.Trackscontinuestomanageitsliabilitieswhichincludesprovisionforshorttermandlongtermstaffcostsandunexpendedgrants.GlennBernardinMarch2017
