The 25th anniversary of the Magnum tractor is celebrated in this thorough history of the Magnum and the late IH tractors. With fresh perspective from the engineers, industrial designers, and others who actually built the tractors as well as more than 700 archival images, prototype drawings, and photos of restored tractors by Lee Klancher, this book provides an unprecedented history of red tractors during the past 50 years.
“This book is absolutely awesome! The detail in the text and the beauty in the photography are exquisite. This is something in which the authors can take great pride.”—Max Armstrong, host of WGN radio show, “Farm Progress America”
“The story of the 50 series and the Magnum is one that needed to be told, and this group did a great job putting it together. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading it.”—Dr. Glenn W. Kahle, lead engineer for the 50 series and the Magnum
“Whether you’ve always ‘bled red’ or if you’re just tickled by tractors in general, this book is a fascinating read—and a gorgeous ride.”—Michael Perry, author of Truck: A Love Story
ISBN 978-1-937747-16-9
$75.00 US / $75.00 CAN
“Being raised on the farm taught me lessons of hard work and dependability, two qualities we can also fi nd in our Case IH equipment. And you can’t beat the service we receive from our Case IH dealer who’s there for us when we need him.”—Jordy Nelson, Green Bay, Wis., professional football player
“Through the years our family has seen the toughness and durability of Case IH equipment both in the fi eld and on the track. This is why we choose Case IH tractors to compete with on the pulling track. The ruggedness and durability of our tractors help put us ahead of our competition.”—Darrin Hunt, Hunt Farms, Ky., 2012 National Tractor Pulling Association Grand National Super Farm Points Champion
“There are a lot of changes in the way things are going— we have to stay productive. We don’t want to have to run a lot of equipment, so the machines we do have, have to be reliable. We’ve got 2,500 acres in corn and soybeans, and these tractors have been bulletproof.”—Jon Thompson, Danvers, Ill.
“I’ll take the Steiger over anything. We have a 24-row planter and we haven’t had any issue with the Steiger when it comes to power not pulling down, not hesitating, even going over hilly ground. You can do just about anything with this tractor.”—Mike Daigh, Taylorville, Ill.
“We always used to be color-blind when it came to equipment, but we started going to Case IH in a big way when the Axial fl ow combines and Magnum tractors came out. We have continued to evaluate other options, but we have stayed with Case IH because of the technology and performance in the fi eld.”—Brian Hefty, Co-Host of AgPhD
“Farming in the 21st century defi nitely has its challenges with rising land prices, fuel costs, fertilizer and seed costs. We farm more land now and have to do it in a very short amount of time. That’s why we have always depended on Case IH. Now with their effi cient power technology their equipment delivers more power on less money. Operator comfort and how simple they are for anyone to run is very important when your putting in these long hours. Case IH has always been the leader of the pack in our book.” —Don and Kandi Kisky, co-hosts of Whitetail Freaks

ER Hurray! The crops are all harvested! And not too soon—it’s snowing. My team and
I have earned a break, but work on Happy Skies Farm never stops completely. In the
winter, I take care of my team and get them ready for the next year. And then there are the animals!
The animals need attention and care every day. I’d better go—can’t keep the cows waiting!

Happy Plants Need a Good Home.Tilling turns hard soil into a good soft home for seeds.
Hard soil acts like a brick. It does not let water, air, or plant food pass through it.
Soft soil acts like a sponge. It soaks up water, air, and plant food.
Each spring, the first thing I do is till the fields. Tilling is the action of digging into the
ground and breaking up the soil into small chunks. When the soil is broken up, water and
food can easily reach the seeds that I will plant. Farmers like me call that a good growing environment!
Let’s Till!
Hi there! My name is Tammi, and I’m in charge of tilling. My strong “f ingers” break up the
hard ground as Sammy pulls me up and down the fields. Together,
we get the job done!
That’s right, Tammi, we work as a team! I’m Sammy, the most
powerful tractor on the farm. It is hard work pulling Tillie, so it’s
good that I’m strong.
Look at me till that field!

Let’s Harvest Corn! All summer long, my corn plants have continued to grow. Now, they are taller than I am, and the
stalks have ears of corn on them. That means it’s time to harvest. We’d better get moving before
the weather turns colder !
I’m Cody. After I cut down the stalk, I separate the tiny corn kernels from
the rest of the plant. I save the kernels in a large bin. The rest of the plant gets
chopped up and spread on the field behind me. I’m a one-stop shop!
TILLUS TALK
All Done Growing!Once the corn plant is fully grown, it has reached the end of its growing cycle.
A fully grown plant has a hairy tassel at the top of it and one or two ears of corn.
An ear of corn is made up of little kernels attached to the cob. The kernels are the seeds of the corn plant!

The FAR
MALL D
ynAsTy
The developmental history of the tractors built by the dominant agricultural manufacturer of the early 20th Century, International harvester, is dramatically told in The Farmall
Dynasty. The book traces the evolution of the Farmall tractor from the early Titans and Moguls through to modern times.
The book includes well-researched accounts of the development of the original Farmall, the Letter series, 4100, Cub, and other legendary IhC tractors, with first-hand accounts from factory engineers describing the challenges they faced. This book is an updated revision of the text from the rare and now out-of-print International harvester Photographic history (IsBn 0-7603-0130-1).

Oliver TractorsA Chief Engineer’s Account–1940-1970
SynopsisThis fi rst-hand account from Oliver’s chief engineer provides intimate detail on how some of the most collectible Oliver tractors were designed, built and sold. Author T. Herbert Morrell was the chief engineer for Oliver from 1944 through 1970. He was a key fi gure in the development of the Fleetline tractors, the upgraded Super series, and the all-new 1600, 1750, 1800, and 1900 tractors. This book provides a behind-the-scenes look at how these tractors were conceived and built from one of their foremost designers. The text has appeared in the book Oliver Farm Tractors (Motorbooks, Sep. 1997), and this updated rendition includes additional supporting technical data.

ForwardThe First American Unassisted Expedition to the North Pole
SynopsisJohn Huston and Tyler Fish faced -50 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures and little or no sunlight during the 55 days it took them to cross 475 miles to the North Pole. The experience not only set a record, it changed the two men forever. They consumed 7,000 calories per day, carried 260 pounds of equipment each, didn’t shower for 55 days, and had to ski non-stop for the last 72 hours in order to make their destination on time. This is the story of the expedition and how it changed the two men forever.
