My friend and former teammate even put a picture of our Bulldog team from years ago. You know that in the past couple of weeks it’s been football talk. The Super Bowl I guess is the biggest sporting event. William Dwight Buntin number two celebrates Kansas City Chiefs winning super Bowl! No sports day bigger than the Super Bowl.But the racing folks....cars and horses hold huge events, the World Series, big car races... and how about golf?! College football and basketball, the National Champs, Vanderbilt play their national championship is huge news. Soccer is big world wide. Just go to any small town or big city in America and little league games draw thousands...even a little league World Series. Why Bowling Green, Kentucky and Goodletsville know how great that trip is. Now let’s talk about Macon County and Westmoreland girls teams this year. Station Camp football got a winner by hiring Brent Alexander, fine player from the Wave, and excellent coach. Coach David Martin and I did many TV coaches shows together, and recently we talked about Portland. Now we know the Panthers have had many football players move up to colleges. Now tell us all the basketball players who wore the Purple and White and moved on to Basketball in college. Corey Brewer, the big name. The most talked about Five Sports star I remember from our area is Gallatin’s great, Eddie Sherlin who is still wearing out the golf courses. If you want to tell us about somebody from your school or town, send it to [email protected]. Bob Prichett has a super star potential in Franklin, but currently injured. Dan Barber has a grandson playing for Gallatin baseball. Pro scout already talking. Speaking of pros, the fabulous Jerry Bell, super basketball college player and former big league player in baseball, will coach Post 17 Baseball this season. The young Lady Vols coming on strong. The even younger Big Orange boys will be super by years end. Ginger Fritz of Gallatin has a young soccer great. Hope Miles Wanstrath gets healthy for baseball. Listened to the new Vol State broadcast crew on WVCP. Coach Melvin had a tough schedule this year. The business folk need to help the Pioneers. All other teams have a much bigger budget. Wonderful basketball, baseball, softball places for these young athletes to play. Speaking of money, Western Kentucky and MTSU pouring big bucks on sports. Coach Dewayne Alexander helping Tennessee Tech, including keeping the high school football State Championship games there. Yes, Sumner County will have another new high school in Cottontown. Hello to buddy Leon Perry. The Westmoreland Perry family had many fine players and coaches. Excited that baseball is just around the corner. So is softball, soccer, golf, and track. Gallatin all state football player Spencer Briggs signs with UNLV. So much for our kids and adults. No area does it better than Middle Tennessee and Southern Ken-tucky. Enjoy! Cheer loudly. Lol.
