Addressing traffic congestion on city streets is a priority for Elk Grove. This fact sheet is intended to summarize completed actions, ongoing activities, as well as proposed future solutions that City staff is actively working on to help alleviate traffic. For additional information or questions, please contact our Public Works Department at (916)478-2256. • Sheldon/Waterman Roundabout. Traffic Management Center (TMC) relocated to City Hall to allow staff to better monitor and address congestion in real time. Connected all 148 Traffic Signals to TMC so that signal timing can be remotely changed based on observations. Signal upgrades to controllers and additional traffic monitoring cameras though ITS IV. • Bradshaw/Sheldon Roundabout. Extended westbound left turn pocket at Laguna Boulevard and Franklin Boulevard. Extended westbound left turn pocket on Laguna Boulevard at Laguna Park Drive (east intersection). Bilby Road extension (Bruceville Road to Big Horn Boulevard extension). New traffic signal coordination plans are being developed for Laguna Boulevard, Bond Road and Elk Grove Boulevards to reduce congestion. Traffic signal timing is reviewed and adjusted on an ongoing basis Staff conducts travel time studies along Elk Grove Boulevard, Laguna Boulevard and Bond Road. Coordination plans are modified based on findings. Implement flashing yellow arrow (FYA) pilot program.
