Genre - MockumentaryO The genre of my film trailer is going to be comedy mockumentary

, as I personally enjoy these types of films and therefore already have a basic understanding of how they are produced.

O The mockumentary genre itself is very broad, for example “The Blair Witch Project” is actually a type of mockumentary as it is mocking the documentary format. I am staying away from the horror path, instead following the sub-genre of a comedy mockumentary.

O Examples of this type of film are Woody Allen’s “Take the money and run”, as well as the new Netflix original film “Mascots”, and Larry Charles’ “Borat”.

Plot O The mockumentary is going to be based around two

young women running their own “organisation” – they are amateur ghost hunters.

O The reason they are being filmed is because they are taking on an intern, and so they are educating him on their day-to-day lives as ghost hunters. He will follow their every step, catching everything they do on camera.

O It will begin with the two characters introducing their “HQ” and giving a history of how they came together over their love of the supernatural.

O As they have never received any actual paid work, only jobs for their parents, we will follow their journey as they attempt to attract business and gain credibility within their local community. This will include creating advertisements (jingles, posters, video for their own website), going door to door, throwing a party, etc.

PlotO After attempts to gain business, they will finally one

customer who needs help with apparent “ghost problems”. The girls will finally get the opportunity to deal with the supernatural and we will see them at work. This will be comedic as they have no clue what they are doing, they will have matching uniforms and equipment to deal with the ghosts. This will be their first ever paid job which is a huge achievement for their “organisation”.

O At the end of the film, they will finally have gained some attention in their local community, ending with them getting a second phone call for their help. This will show how far they have come throughout the film, as although this is not a huge achievement, for them it will be huge.

Age RatingO On my blog, I have researched into the BBFC and the

certification system used for films. As well as this, similar films of the mockumentary genre which I am using as inspiration are commonly rated 15 due to the occasional use of strong language and sexual references.

O I believe that if my trailer was a feature-length film it would be awarded a 15 certificate because there would most likely be some mild or strong language used to create humour. As well as this, there may be sexual references within jokes, which would contribute to this certificate being awarded.

O As I am only creating the trailer, the content in the film that may be aimed towards older audiences such as swearing or inappropriate jokes, would not be included and I would only show so much of what takes place within the film.
