Horror/Supernatural• Convention: Something which is not human is normally
causes the horror.• Stereotypically, it is usually ghosts and demons such as in the
A2 trailer, ‘Paralysis’.• However, this is slowly changing.• For example, in the trailer ‘The Pyramids’, its mummies.
Horror/Supernatural
• Inspiration: Horror storylines are now becoming more based on true stories which is more scary.
• What I find influential is that the horror genre is starting to in-cooperating history such as in the new film, ‘As Above, So Below’ which involves the catacombs under Paris because it highlights how the past can effect the present/future.
Horror/Supernatural• Convention: Usually the film is filmed from the perspective
of another character via a hand held camera. • This is done in a way so we can feel either part of the film –
which makes it more scary – or so that the audience as a clearer insight of the film and a better understanding of the characters.
• This is a convention which both big industries and A2 media students use.
• Inspiration: I find this method of filming influential as I believe it enhances the horror of the film as an audience member feels as if they are apart of it.
• However, I feel that this method of filming has becoming overused so I feel that my trailer should incorporate the hand held camera idea alongside the normal style of filming.
• For example, the 2013 film ‘Evidence’ explores this.
Horror/Supernatural
• Convention: A haunted location• Stereotypically, the location where the film is filmed is usually
abandoned and haunted by something.• For example in the movie ‘Evil Dead’.• However, this stereotype is now becoming more challenged as
more films are adding realism to their films.• For example, ‘7500’ explores the idea of a haunted plane which
is more terrifying because there is the element of no escape.
