Training and development at CMC:
Training is a very important aspect when it comes to medical stores since they
deal with essential commodities like medicines. At Central Medical Centre, the
store manager is the owner himself and thus he is well versed with all the
ayurvedic medicines. He learns about new drugs in the market on his own and
with the help of other family members.
He employs workers under him to help him with the store. The minimum
!uali"cation for these workers is #th grade along with basic pro"ciency in
$nglish. %ith this background, the workers are given months to memorise the
names of the medicines and their respective locations in the store shelves. He
himself helps them learn and remember these names.
Along with this, there is a one year rigorous on the &ob training for these
employees in customer relations and handling. Although the manager himself
receives and attends customers, he trains the employees for any unforeseen
situation.
As and when new drugs'medicines are added to the store, the manager along
with himself ac!uaints the employees about them too.
(ince there is no managerial hierarchy at CMC, the development of these
employees does not take place. The only appraisal they get is in terms of their
salary. The employees remain at the same level throughout.
