TRAINING FOR TEACHERS IN PALLIATIVE CARE:

MASTERCLASS COURSE

This short course compliments and builds upon the learning gained during the Training for Teachers in Palliative Care Foundation Course. The aim is to support further development of your knowledge and skills in the delivery of contemporary teaching within your professional role in Healthcare. This course is suitable for you if you are a Doctor or Healthcare Professional working within Palliative Care who has:

• Previously attended the Training for Teachers in Palliative Care: Foundation Course • Two or more years’ experience working within palliative and end of life care • Experience of teaching as part of your professional role

As the Masterclass often attracts an international audience, we offer a residential option which allows you to meet, socialise and network with colleagues and facilitators, sharing knowledge and experience beyond the classroom. Alternatively, you may wish to undertake the course through the non-residential option.

HOW YOU WILL LEARN

As with the Foundation Course, this intensive, multidisciplinary course is participant centred and interactive. You will be encouraged to reflect upon previously gained knowledge and explore ways in which to develop your practice further. All learning activities are facilitated by international experts in the field of adult education and palliative care.

ABOUT THE COURSE

This 2 day Masterclass develops the learning which has taken place during the Training for Teachers in Palliative Care Foundation Course. It expands upon the learning related to adult educational methodologies and introduces new concepts, exploring specific themes associated with Learning and Teaching such as assessment, multidisciplinary teaching, group dynamics and clinically based teaching. You will also have the opportunity to analyse, evaluate and receive constructive feedback on key areas of your teaching practice, including the design and delivery of educational programmes or newly developed projects. Options for the Masterclass: There are a number of options available for undertaking the Masterclass. It may be that you have previously completed the Foundation Course and now wish to consolidate your learning after a period implementing your new skills in practice. However, you can also complete the course in combination with the Training for Teachers in Palliative Care: Foundation Course, extending your overall experience to 5 consecutive days.

As a participant on the course you will be asked to undertake a number of learning activities. This will include individual presentations which aim to enable you to practice specific skills and to receive constructive feedback from your facilitators and peers. On completion of the course you will receive a ‘Training for Teachers in Palliative Care: Masterclass’ Certificate.

This course has received Royal College of Physicians CPD event approval.

The Training for Teachers in Palliative Care Masterclass 2 day course will be delivered:

8 - 9 October at the Jurys Inn, Liverpool, UK.
