Expected joint IFAD-FAO project outcome: “Enhanced institutional capacity in the project countries to develop policy solutions for managing the risks and vulnerability faced by the rural poor, particularly the unfamiliar risks posed by market integration, price volatility and climate change.”

Project context

• Work plans now integrate activities for: - policy studies, - capacity building, - institutional strengthening, and - advocacy

• Policy studies prepared (4 done, 9 under preparation)

• Intermediate results presented to broad audience

Participants:• well understand the public policy process, its specific

stages, and how different stakeholders are involved in each stage.

• well understand key elements of pro-poor policy in the agricultural sector that ensure inclusive approaches with regard to smallholders and vulnerable groups.

Workshop objectives

• are capable to apply own assessment tools to existing policy processes and country specific issues to enhance policy proposals with regard to manage risk and vulnerability related to climate change, market integration and volatility.
