Electrical energy to the cement plant is supplied by electricity board and by own generation plant.Different Voltage requirements are based on loadHT load (11 or 6.6 or 3.3 kV) for Raw/Cement Mill main drives, Big Hammer crushers. It Generally consists of slip ring induction motors of rating form 500kW to 5000kW.LT load i.e. Various Auxiliaries related to Kiln/Raw mill / cement Mill/Packing plants/crushers/ plant lighting etc. it also consists of variable speed drive and DC drive which are fed via converters/rectifiers

Main Component of 132 or 220 KV Switchyard
Lightening arrester – It protects electrical equipment against the lightening / switching over voltages.It consist of a spark gap in series with
a non linear resistor. One end of the
diverter is connected to the terminal of the
equipment and the other end is effectively
grounded. The length of the gap is set so
that normal voltage is not enough to cause
an arc but a tremendously high voltage will
breakdown the air insulation and form an arc.

Potential or voltage transformer – it provides mirror image of the actual voltage for measurement and/or protection purposes. It is also used for energy monitoring purpose.

Current transformer - similar to the PT, current transformers provides mirror image of the current drawn by the system. It is used for measurement / protection of the systems.

Circuit breaker – it is used for Switching ON/OFF function of the circuit at load/no load and also having capacity to break the circuit at very high current at the time of fault (if any) in the system. Depending upon arc quenching media different type of circuit breaker are used.
