TRAINING SPIRITUAL
ADOLESCENTS FOR
MINISTRY
Introduction
Parenting isn’t easy-
especially teenagers!
Growth from childhood
to spiritual young
adulthood happens in
the context of ministry
and SERVICE.
All Christians are called
to ministry!
JESUS’ PLAN FOR
DISCIPLES IS MINISTRY
AND SERVING OTHERS!
I. Equip spiritual young
adults for ministry and
service
A. An important element
of training is teaching
them to be HUMBLE!
B. We need to equip
them for ministry
TOGETHER. They
need to cooperate,
and be kind.
C. We need to prepare
them for success and
FAILURE.
We will not always
minister and be
successful! We will
have disappointments
and discouragement
as well as glorious
times of victory,
conversions and
spiritual growth.
II. PROVIDE Ministry
Opportunities
A. Show them
EXAMPLES of
ministry, then Help
them EXPERIENCE
ministry.
B. Ministry is for
ALL OF US! We all
have talents and
abilities that God
can use.
C. The pattern of
teaching happens
this way:
1.Take them along
with you when
you go out on
ministry and they
WATCH what you
do and say.
2. Take them along
with you, and let
them PARTICIPATE
in aspects of
service
3. Take them out for
ministry and let
them do IT ALL,
with you
supervising and
watching.
4.Let them go out
doing ministry on
their OWN.
5. When they are
ready, they can
begin to DISCIPLE
someone else.
III. RELEASE
Spiritual Adult
Disciples to DO
Ministry
(2 Timothy 2:2)
A. Example: Acts 6
and the 7 DEACONS
appointed to help
distribute food for
widows.
B. Maturity is not a
matter of Bible
knowledge, the
number of years
since you were born
again, whether you
are a church
official,
but more about
CARING for others
and MINISTERING
to their needs.
C. Maturity is
indicated by the
ability to
REPRODUCE
disciples who can
disciple others.
1. Explain the
discipleship
process clearly.
2. Encourage your
disciple to identify
potential disciples
who are faithful,
available, and
teachable.
a.Faithful= serious
and COMMITTED
to the things of
God; not sporadic,
impulsive or
unwilling.
b. Available=
allocating time and
PRIORITIES to
growing his walk
with God and in his
relationships.
c. Teachable=
willing to LEARN
and open to seeing
new truth through
honest questions.
3. Release them to
disciple ALONE and
“parent their own
kids.” At this point
they become our
peers!
