Based in Granby, Québec, Canada, Wattman has been in the business of electric and trackless road trains and trams since 1999. The company employs approximately 30 people. Over the years the company has gradually migrated from its original arts and crafts approach to business into an entity that is now driven by engineering with respect to its origins of building unique, quality and crafted vehicles. The vast majority of Wattman products are exported. The company has a worldwide reach with clients in over 60 different countries. The Mini Express is a 4 car configuration and is comprised of one locomotive, one open coal car wagon, 2 covered passenger wagons and a caboose. Often referred to as a mall train, the Wattman Mini Express trackless train is ideal for indoor operations. Providing appropriate maintenance, the train is also suitable for outdoor operations. The Mini Express can be delivered in 2 versions; Classic and Basic. The main difference between these versions lies in the fact that the Classic is outfitted with the Anti-Collision system. The Basic edition can be equipped with all other features/options that come standard on the Classic.

The Maxi Express is a 3 car configuration and is comprised of one locomotive, 2 covered passenger wagons and a caboose. Oversized wagons are pulled by the same locomotive as the Mini Express. The larger wagons will handle more capacity than the Mini wagons. They are higher, wider and roomier and offer more comfort.

The Maxi Express trains can operate in most types of operations as the Mini Express trains. However the bigger wagons will cater to operations that have proportionally more adults than the typical operations of the Mini Expressand where adults outnumber children.

The Wattman Maxi XT Express Trackless train is a 4 car configuration and is comprised of one locomotive, 3 covered passenger wagons and a caboose.

Over the years, a good number of customers interested in the Maxi Express would ask us if a stronger version, more rugged and adapted to different weather conditions and with increased capacity was available.

Although the existing Maxi Express is suited to most outdoor operations, we decided to proceed with the development of a Maxi with more muscle and better suited to more extreme outdoor operating conditions.

The ACS is intended to improve the safety of the general public when the train is used in busyor confined areas.

It works by using state of the art ultrasonic detectors to sense objects, person, and obstructions that may loom in the path of the train.

When an obstruction is detected, the ACS processor will assume control of the train and either slow it down or stop it altogether.

Anti-Collision system

WHEELS IN MOTIONAdding realism to the Mini Express triggers a child’s imagination and captures the attention. The Wheels In Motion rotate at variable speeds and in tandem with the speed of the train.

This feature comes standard with the Classic Mini and Maxi Express train.

SOUND IN MOTIONAs the train moves forward, steam engine sounds are generated and projected from the locomotive.

The faster the train moves, the faster the rhythm of the sounds. Also provided are bell and whistle sounds that are triggered by their own switch and independent volume controls.

This feature comes standard with the Classic Mini, Maxi and Maxi XT Express.

ANTI-COLLISION SySTEMSensors monitor the front of the train for objects. If an object is detected, the train will slow down or stop. The system overrides the driver and acts as a safeguard and an assistant to the driver.

This feature comes standard with the Classic Mini and Maxi Express trains.

AUDIO PACKAGEPA-amplifier and speakers in all wagons.

The optional goose neck microphone allows the driver to keep his eyes on the road while talking.

SMOKE MACHINEBy simply pressing a button, the conductor will instantly generate smoke.

The liquid that evaporates is glycol based. It is safe and non-toxic and can be used in an indoor operation. The smoke machine has its own battery and recharging system which is controlled by a microprocessor.

WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMPlastic tubing is channelled to all battery cells. Distilled water is pumped into the network. No spills.

No gloves. Optimum fill.

RAILROAD CROSSINGBlinking signal lights and warning sound are generatedby a remote control that the driver activates as he nears the crossing.

Battery operated. A rechargeable system.

With these advertising frames you can easily install by slidingin your corporate identity or advertisements.

These frames are mounted on the side of the wagon that is opposite the door.

LARGE ADVERTISING FRAMESWOOD PANELSThe optional wood panel kit replaces the Standard square andrectangular ornaments on the wagon sides.

The wood panels give the train a very exclusive look and you have the ability to easily install your own themes, advertisementsor corporate identity.

The small advertising frames can be used on the rooftop of the passenger wagons. The wooden frames can be mounted in the slots which are available on the roof of all passenger wagons.

The Wattman trains are manufactured according to extremely rigorous design andaesthetic guidelines. Our trains come in 3 standard color combinations.

We can also deliver the trains in many other color combinations, please contact us for the possibilities. Specifically for zoos we have the Zoo edition in which the entiretrain is fitted with colorful animal graphics.

A TRAIN OPERATION WITHOUT THE APPROPRIATE CERTIFICATION IS A VULNERABLE OPERATION!

All Wattman trains are TUV certified and comply with all European regulations. In countries where TUV is not required, the simple fact that it is TUV certified will procure a positive appreciation on the local or national compliance agency.

In countries outside the EU and with standards of their own, Wattman will interact with the assigned compliance agency of that country in order that the train owner obtain their certification. Recently, Wattman has worked with Israeli, Australian and Singapore governmental bodies and obtained required certifications for each of these countries.

All this to say that there is no single answer to customers looking into obtaining a certification.

It is therefore important to do your homework and verify if any specific approval applies to your operation.

All Wattman trains have been designed conforming to the requirements of EN 13814 :2004-Fairgroundand Amusement Park Machinery and Structures – Safety.
