Trans Day of Remembrance Events

in the Community

November 20 is Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR), a day for us to

remember our trans siblings departed too soon. As a community and

as allies, we come together to mourn and celebrate their lives. There

are several events happening in the community on the days

surrounding November 20. If you know of additional events, let us

know, we would love to spread the word.

November 17, 7:00pm - 8:00pm: Trans Day of Remembrance

Hosted by Creighton University GSA @ Creighton University in

Omaha

November 20, 1:00pm - 3:30pm: Trans Day of Resilience and

Remembrance Lincoln

Hosted by the LGBT Welcoming Committee of the Unitarian

Church-Lincoln, @ the Unitarian Church on 63rd and A Street

November 20, 6:00pm: TDoR Omaha

Hosted by TDoR Omaha @ the First Unitarian Church of Omaha

on 31st and Harney

Workshop Series

The LGBTQA+ Resource Center is

giving a workshop series on how you

can make your community a better

place. All workshops are bring your

own lunch.

Every workshop is on a Tuesday from

11am-1pm in the Green Room (inside

room 200) of the Nebraska Union.

These workshops will take the full two

hours, but you get a button and card as

a reward for completing training!

These workshops are especially

valuable for RAs, student leaders, and

allies.

Fundraiser

That’s right, we will have a

Barnes & Noble fundraiser again

this year to raise money for our

trip with Spectrum UNL and The

Change to the Midwestern

Bisexual Lesbian Gay

Transgender College

Conference (MGLGTACC). The

conference allows students to

develop leadership skills, learn

the complexities of the

LGBTQA+ community, and have

a fun time.

The fundraiser will be all day on

November 12, at the Barnes &

Nobel on 52nd and O Street.

Just tell the cashier you are there

for the fundraiser and a

PERCENTAGE of your purchases

will be shared with us and our

co-sponsors: Spectrum UNL and

The Change. If you cannot make

it to the store, you can use the

Bookfair ID: #11875903 online

for up to a week past the

fundraiser to contribute some of

your purchase to us. Perfect for

holiday shopping!

Our lovely faces will be

somewhere in the store with a

craft area. Last year this was a

big hit, so stop by and say hello!

Trans Care Clinic Meet & Greet

The University of Nebraska at Lincoln is getting a Transgender Care

Clinic, opening in January of 2017! The wonderful Dr. Amoura (who is the

clinic provider) will be visiting UNL on November 16 at 4pm in the

LGBTQA+ Resource Center. The clinic is sponsored by the University

Health Center, who will also be providing refreshments for the meet and

greet!

This event is great for both trans students and allies/friends/family alike

to get better educated on the resources we will have on campus coming

this January.

Dr. Amoura is an OBGYN and associate professor at University of

Nebraska Medical Center with several years of experience in

transgender care and hormone treatment.
