Dan: Likeyousaid,Igrewuponanorganicfarm,hereinMassachusettsandIgotmarriedabout10,11,yearsago.WhenIgotmarried,Ihadnootherviableskillsetstopaythebillbesidesfarming.TheonlymodelthatIhadwasonethatincludedalotofworkandnotnecessarilyalotoflucre…,notmuchprofitability.
Thatwasalargepartduetocropsnotflourishing.IstartedthinkingalittlebitabouttherestofmylifeandhowhardIwantedtoworkandwhetherorganicwasactuallybetter,iftheplantsweresufferingduetotheinfestationanddisease,etceteraandstartedlookingmoreintotheliteratureofwhat’sthere.
Guesswhat,ifyoudon’tjustlookinthemainstream,there’salotofreallygoodinformationoutthere.Wwestartedlearningfromtheeldersgoingtoconferences,readingbooks,takingcourses,andpracticingonmyparent’sfarmandnowmyownfarm,andrealizedthatifyoucreateenvironmentwhereyourplantsaregettingwhattheyneed,theyflourish.It’sreallynotjustplants,obviously,it’slifeingeneralthathascertainbasicneeds.

ThisfitinwithsomeofmylargerthingsI’dbeenworkingoninmy20sofconsciousnessandpoliticalrevolutionandthefullgamut.Itseemedtome,quiteevidentthatifwedidn’tincreasethenutritivequalityoffood,inthefoodsupplythatwewouldneverbeabletoreallyachievealotofourothersystemicobjectiveswhethertheybecarbonsequestrationorsystemicweakeningofagri-businessandpharmaceuticalindustryorincreasingofconsciousness.
Ithinkallthesethingsarebeautifullyintertwinedwithsoilandfood.Hopefullywehaveachancetogetintoallthat,butitjustfelt,andImean,inthelastbitisthatmyparentsactuallyhaveforthepast35yearsorso,runanorganicfarmingorganizationhereinthenortheastcalledNOFA.I’vegotabackgroundinthenonprofitworldandthatjustseemedlikeanaturalwaytotakewhatIwasdoinginmyownfarmandbringittoalargeraudience.
IfeltlikeifIhadgrownupanorganicfarm,andintheorganicworldandwasstillnotthatgoodofafarmer,probablyotherfarmersandotherpeopletryingtodothiskindlifestyle,we’restrugglingwiththelogisticsofactuallygrowinghealthyplants.Imeanthere’safewpointsinthere.
Dave: Allright.We’retalkingaboutsomanycoolthings,butthisismaybethefirstplacetostartwhichisthatfarmershavebeencrammeddown.Iactuallywenttoschoolforacoupleofyears,intoauniversityforacoupleofyearsintheCentralValleyinCalifornia,thefarmingareathat’sbeenhitbythedroughtandallofmyfriendswhoarefarmersorranchersouttherewerejustlamentingthefactthatyoujustcouldn’tmakemoneygrowingalmondsbecausethenthere’sanalmondprocessingboard.
Youwanttoraisechickensorturkeysandthere’sTysoninvolved.Theyfeltliketheywerelandrichbutbarelymakingapaychecktopaycheckandthenonelittlebadthinghappens,youaccidentallysprayyourselfwithroundupandyougetsickandyoucan’tworkthefarm.Youcan’taffordtopaysomeoneandboom,you’rebasicallyscrewed,andyoulosethefarm.Whathappenswhenpeopleswitchtoanorganic,highnutrientfoodkindoffarming?Whathappenstothefarmerspersonallyoreconomically?

Mostofthemdon’tgrowtheirownfood.Thosewhobuyfood.Alotofpeoplethesedaysaregettingsick.Alotofpeoplegotodoctors.Alotofpeopleareonvariouspharmaceuticalsbecausethey’redegenerating,they’rebreakingdownthey’rephysiologicallynotfunctioningwell.Thathasattherootofit,foodqualityasthesolution,asfarasI’mconcerned.
Ifwecangiveconsumerswhocareabouttheirhealthandthehealthoftheirchildren,thehealthoftheirspouses,etcetera,theabilitytotestqualityinthegrocerystore,attheFarmersMarket.Betweengrocerystores,howevertheypurchasetheircrops,Idon’treallycarebutifwecangivethemtheabilitytotestqualityandlookbeyondthelabelofthemarketingandallthatjazz,toreallyempiricallywhat’sinandwhat’snotinyourfood.Theideaisthatthatwouldhaveadramaticeffectonthefoodsupplyatlarge.Icangointothatingreatdetail.Iwouldbereallyexcitedtotalkaboutit.
Dave: It’saholygrailofchefsandofpeoplewhocareabouttheirhealthbecausewetalkedaboutthis.Infact…
Dan: Eventhegovernment,thegovernmentisnowpayingforpeople’shealthcare.Ifyouwanttosolvedegenerativediseasessystemically,ifyouwanttoactuallycure,it’sgoingtobankruptthegovernment.Imean,it’snotjustfoodies,it’sdowntosometrulypowerfulforces.Imean,itispowerfulforces,butsorrytointerrupt.

Dave: Gotit.Whenitcomestowarandwhenitcomestomedicine,it’sbankruptingthegovernmentandmakingalotofpeoplereallywealthyasithappensandthosewealthypeoplearelaughingwhileithappens.I’mnotsurethattheUSisproperlysetuptobeincentedtofixthis,butplaceslikeSweden,wherethegovernmentactuallydoespayforhealthcarewithoutenrichingpeopletothatextent.
They’rechangingtheirnationalguidelinesaroundsaturatedfatandthingshavehappenedthere.Thewholeidea,evenbehindtherecommendationsIhaveintheBulletproofdietlikethere’saspectrum.It’slikelook,youneedtowritestuffbutyouneedtoeatlessofthebadstuffthat’sinthegoodstuffandmoreofthegoodstuffthat’sinthegoodstuff.
Foodqualityisreallyimportantandavoidingallthesepesticidesandspraysandothertoxinsinfood.That’stherecipeforpeoplewhocanthinkfullywiththeirbrainandcanlivefullyintheirbodyandemotionsinthatwholecreativeconsciousnesskindofpower.Itcomesfromfood.It

Youcanbeclosertoperfectorfurtherfromperfectbutifyouhavenutrient-densefoodthat’scoatedincyanide,it’sactuallynotreallyokay.Ourthoughtprocessashumanshasn’tbeenlikethatbecausehistoricallythiswasn’tasbigofadeal.Weevolvedtoeatthefoodthatwasnearus,thatwasmostavailablethatwasmosthealthy.
