Transforming Leadership in Delivering Operational Excellence The BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) stands by its commitment to drive a strong, open-minded and ethical leadership culture and continually improve the patient and provider experience. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Provincial Executive Director, Patient Care Delivery with BC Ambulance Service, has direct responsibility and accountability for providing leadership, management and oversight of BCEHS programs and services which encompasses both metro and rural operations. As a champion of transformation, the Executive Director will lead by example while modelling BCEHS vision, values and principles as part of the Provincial Health Services Authority. Working with internal and external stakeholders, this key leadership role develops and implements strategic initiatives that drive and transform the effective and efficient delivery of quality, patient-focused pre-hospital emergency care and inter-facility patient transfers across British Columbia. Leading a culture of professionalism, dignity and respect, the successful candidate will foster an environment of continuous learning while promoting excellence and innovation with a lens on quality service and improvement. With responsibility for complex initiatives, this role will build and action strategies for monitoring program performance, assessing risk and identifying opportunities for improvement. As a member of BCEHS operational and strategic committees, in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Provincial Executive Director develops, manages and maintains effective communications with internal and external partners, elected officials and representatives of regulatory agencies or bodies, health authorities and emergency services. This includes representing the Chief Operating Officer of BCEHS as required and exercising delegated authority from the Executive Vice President. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a significant operational budget and providing effective and inspiring leadership to 3,000 paramedics who respond to more than 500,000 calls for patient care every year. This role requires a senior leader who has the ability to conceptualize, and integrate present realities into future possibilities. With 15 years or more in a large EMS, Health, Public Service, or equivalent environment in addition to a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, the successful candidate will have well-developed experience working in a broad stakeholder environment with a proven ability to innovate and guide change, as well as facilitate collaboration within a complex patient-focused provincial health system. Since 1974, BCAS has been providing expert pre-hospital care to patients when a medical emergency occurs. BCAS is an organization that is rich with tradition and holds a strong commitment to providing timely and high quality patient care to citizens across BC.
