    Questions?????

Do sins, transgression and iniquity are all the same or different?

What are the consequence of the above three?

Whether the above three can be cleansed or forgiven?

Does it have any effect on our children's children or the generations to come?

How can we overcome the above three?

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem himstricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for ourtransgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peacewas upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isa 53:4-5)

Sickness comes from sin, transgressions and iniquities ( Ps 38, John 5:14)

There is a difference between sin, transgressions and iniquities------

Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and thatwill by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. (Exo34:7)

And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and theythat forsake the LORD shall be consumed. (Isa 1:28)

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish thetransgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, andto bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and toanoint the most Holy. (Dan 9:24)

    Summarizing the three..

Sins can be both voluntary (willful) and involuntary (sins of ignorance). Anytransgression is sin.

A transgression always involves Gods law. Sin does not always involve atransgression ofGods law (Proverbs 24:9; Leviticus 16:16).

One can be a sinner or a transgressor, but not an iniquitor (no such word).

There is no offering under the law for iniquity. There are distinctdifferences between the three words (Isaiah 1:28, Exodus 34:7). There areoverlapping areas of the three words.

Sin corresponds primarily with the soul and mind.

Transgression corresponds with the body and actions.

Iniquity corresponds primarily with the spirit, and attitude

He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, andacquainted with grief and sickness; and like One from Whom men hi de their faces Hewas despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him. Surelyhe has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried oursorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered hi m stricken,

smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for ourtransgressions, he was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement[needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes[that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole. Isaiah 53:3-5 .

What exactly happened when Jesus offered Himself as perfect payment forour sin?

    1) Jesus was wounded for our transgressions.

His blood paid the price for our sin. The demand of sin has been met i n Jesus. That is why it is so vital to appropriate His blood i n your life; to accept Hi m andwelcome Hi s salvation into your life by believing in Him; that He died for you and wasraised from the dead. Without this faith in Christ your sins remain unforgiven, and willcontinue to erode your attempt at closeness to God and successful living. Ephesians2:8 says: We are saved by grace through our faith in Jesus Christ.

    2) He was bruised for our iniquities

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in thatday, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast outdevils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them,I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Mat 7:21-23)

Iniquity = lawlessness, state of the heart, attitude of the heart

Sinners and transgressors have deep sorrow/ anguish for their sin andwill experience forgiveness when they repent.

Those that practice iniquity justify their sin and may even become habitual

in their sin, experiencing no forgiveness while they practice iniquity.

Those that commit iniquity practice lawlessness in the absence ofrelationships/ accountability, hence will often hide in crowds or placeswhere they don't need to be accountable.

The meaning of iniquities comes from a Hebrew word that means to twist, todistort or to bend. Often times an iniquity will start as a bended version of thetruth; a slight distortion of the real. An iniquity puts its own twist on life, values, mindsets, etc. Upon further study ofGod s word it seems like iniquity is different fromtransgression in that it is something handed to you whereas transgression is

    something you personally do.

Iniquity something handed to you? (Deut. 5:9-10)

The twisted, distorted and bent things that originated over three to four generationsbefore you are handed to you through genealogies and bloodlines.

Did you know that your transgression today may become your child s iniquity? Now letit be be clear! You are not paying the price for the sins of your father or grandfather.

Each person will give an account before the Lord for his or her own actions, righteousor sinful. We can never use other people s sin as an excuse for our own calamity.

It should be noted that there are things you do today that can affect your children andtheir children and things done by your father and hi s father before him can impactyour life in a real way as well. It is interesting how things like alcoholism, drug abuse, poverty, heart disease, asthma, etc. follow through the generation of a family. Why isthis? I believe it is because of untreated iniquity. :

    Biblical Examples

    Generation 1

In Genesis 20 we read of Abraham and Sarah who journeyed to the South countryAbraham told Abimelech , the king of Gerar that Sarah is his sister in fear that the kingwill kill him if Sarah was known to be his wife. This was not a total lie. Sarah was his

half-sister who also became his wife. His was a half truth which is a half lie; the truthwith a twist. The king took Sarah into his harem because he thought she was merelyAbraham s sister, but in a dream the Lord exposed the whole truth to the king andcatastrophe was averted.

    Generation 2

In Genesis 26 - Isaac and Rebekah, Abraham s son and daughter in law journeydown to Gerar because of a famine in the When they arrived in Gerar some of the menasked Isaac about Rebekah and he told them that she was his sister! Again Abimelechthe king saw that she was actually his wife and had to expose the lie for what it was.Isn t that interesting. Years before Abraham told a twisted version of the truth inGerar and now when faced with a similar situation hi s son, Isaac, also reverted to alie. Only this time it was a blatant lie and not a half truth. The twist got twisted evenfurther. Abraham s transgression became Isaac s iniquity; a weak-spot that provided

    Generation 2

Isaac and Rebekah had twins called Jacob and Esau. The name Jacob means heal-catcher, surplanter or deceiver. According to the Bible Jacob deceived his ownfather to obtain the blessing of the first born. Later he wrestled with God and theLord even changed hi s name to Israel which means prince of God or celebrated. Can you see the pattern? What originates as a half truth grows though the

generations of Abraham that Jacob s character became twisted to deceive.Abraham opened the door with his transgression and both son and grandsonstepped through that door of iniquity.

    Generation 1

David, the beloved king of Israel was a great man but he also had hi s sinful

moments. His ultimate transgressions were adultery and murder, sins for which hegained forgiveness through repentance and confession.

    Generation 2

When we look at Solomon, David s son we find a man gifted to succeed. Godbestowed to Solomon an understanding heart (wisdom) along with great riches andhonor. He started out i n good form by building a temple for God that was simplyamazing. Hi s end was not as impressive at all. He ended with 700 wives and over300 concubines!

In 1 Kings 11:4 For when Solomon was old, his wives turned away his heart afterother gods, and hi s heart was not perfect (complete and whole) with the Lord hisGod, as was the heart of David hi s father. As a result of hi s transgressions thekingdom of Israel was split into two and never retained the stature and glory as inthe days of David. David opened the door to lust and sexual sin and Solomonwalked through that same door in pursuit of 1,000 or more women,

accommodating all their idolatrous customs that deceived him in the end.
