Transit of Venus
Jerome Solomon
What is it• It is when Venus travels across the Sun. You
can see it in the sky traveling across from Earth. It is seen a as a small black disk because the Sun is shining on Venus on one side.
All the planets are rotating and that there are many ways to see the Universe. The Venus of Transit lasts about 3-7 hours.
More info for the solar system
How often does it occur?
A transit of Venus is very rare. On average, there are two transits of Venus every 125 years. The next transit of Venus, where Venus appears as a dark spot in front of the Sun, will begin at 22:09 on 5 June 2012, and will finish at 04:49 UTC on 6 June around the World.
How should it be viewed
You should use eclipse shades and solar shades to watch it. Also special telescopes and observatory buildings can be used to view it. Or just read it in the news.
