If necessity is the mother of invention, commitment must be the father! While doing her Capstone project for the PGP-BDML program, Sulekha Alooravi, now an AVP at a leading bank, was looking for a Python package to add to her skillset.
Surprisingly, her search led her nowhere. Some would have reached out to their mentor for help, some would have dropped their project targets and ambitions, but Sulekha decided she would just create her own library!

As a practicing doctor, Dr. Ashwath Prathapani had been no stranger to rampant drug abuse, across social and age strata. He was acutely aware of people's faith - that standard methods of dissuasion never applied to them specifically! He knew he needed a different tool - so he decided to pick the cudgel of numbers over the syringe.
He enrolled in the PGP-BABI program with his Capstone already in mind - to predict the effects of continued drug abuse on patients of different age brackets. Now done with the program after a stellar capstone presentation, he is fine-tuning his model at Continental Hospital's clinical trials wing to make it more reliable. Here's to many more successes for Dr. Ashwath.

WHEN UPSKILLING WAS THE ONLY CHOICE
Selling insurance policies at ICICI Lombard was not Richa's idea of a great career. She shifted to a different role, preparing Excel reports and creating dashboards. She soon realized that this, too, had outlived her interest. Looking for a break in the Data Science field, she interviewed with several firms. "It became clear to me that I wouldn't be able to make a meaningful shift with the limited knowledge I had. I just wasn't ready", she says.
She put her trust in Great Learning. "The first few months, I learnt everything I could. In my own time, I decided to apply what I was learning at my work. I created a regression-based model and used Time-series in my job". That was enough to give her the confidence to go after opportunities again. She landed offers from JP Morgan and Fractal Analytics, picking the latter because "it gave me an opportunity to create analytics solutions for clients as well as manage a team".

FROM DEAD - END TO ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
The whispers abounded! Automation testing was going to be taken over by the bots, and testers would be on a fast track to nowhere! Swathy heeded them - she enrolled for the PGP-BABI, hoping that her appetite, her intelligence and the program experience would lead her to greener pastures.
"My Capstone project was with the Tamil Nadu government. Some of my classmates were skeptical, but I gave it my 100%, thanks to my Mentor", says Swathy.
