3 Installation of ProNovia Basic Library

This section describes the first installation of ProBasicLib on a SAP system.

Further installations of ProBasicLib as well the installation of other ProNovia products can afterwards bemade using an import assistant function. Please step over to section Installation/Upgrade of otherProducts .

3.1 Introduction

For the installation of ProBasicLib, one or several transport orders will be delivered as ZIP-files includingthe required SAP transport order files.

The required files use the filename pattern R<trspnr>.TPD or K<trspnr>.TPD. To retrieve the rightSAP order number the file extensions should be used as a prefix followed by a "K" and thenumber <trspnr> like TPDK<trspnr>.

For example, files can be named "R900149.TPD" and "K900149.TPD", however thecorresponding order number in the SAP system is TPDK900149.

Instead of TPD another file extension may be used. Depending the ProNovia source system, where the package was built. For further information please refer to the product download page.

3.2 Preparations

Files, which are required for the import, must be stored in the following directories of the SAP ERPsystems:

R<trspnr>.TPD This file must be moved to the data directory of the transportsystem.

Example: Unix System /usr/sap/trans/data or Windows F:\usr\sap\trans\data\

K<trspn>r.TPD This file must be moved to the cofiles directory of the transportsystem.

Example: Unix System /usr/sap/trans/cofiles or Windows F:\usr\sap\trans\cofiles\

The path may be different on your SAP ERP system.

4 Installation/Upgrade of other Products

As soon as the ProBasicLib has been initially installed as described in Installation of ProNovia BasicLibrary , any other ProNovia products (including ProBasicLib) can be installed using a ProNovia uploadfunctionality.

Make sure all downloaded product kits (zip files) are stored in one folder. Do not extract the zip files.

The function "Import product components" can be accessed via the transaction /PRONOVAI/CUST in themain menu under Extras. The functions asks for the folder where the downloaded kit files are stored. Itwill automatically extract the transport files and attaches them to the SAP transport queue.

A version check takes place to ensure that no product without the appropriate requirements will beimported and no newer product version is overwritten. The import queue is displayed after the successfulfinish of the function.

5 Import

The import of ProNovia products requires the import of all transport orders within one single step becauseof technical dependencies. Do not import the transport orders one-by-one.

Also, the transport files of ProNovia product may be very huge and will take some time to import. It ishighly recommended to do the import on off-peak hours or even better during official upgrade windows, when users are locked out.

· Start of transaction Transport Management System (STMS) and branch to import overview.

· Select the right queue

· Select all ProNovia transport orders

· Import the transport orders and make sure the following options are activated:

o Overwrite Originals

o Overwrite Objects in Unconfirmed Repairs

o Ignore Invalid Component Version

Due to the size of the products, the integration into the SAP standard and connectedfunctionality in the Products, there is a certain risk of deadlocks while importing the Productsinto a running System (see SAP Note 1454536). Therefore, it is recommended to import only

after deactivating any background functionality, interacting with the products (e.g. Jobs) and usea time frame, where affected transactions are not used. This is especially relevant for productivesystems with excessive use of affected transactions which can lead to reoccurring import errorscaused by deadlocks.

It is recommended to activate the import option "watchparallelprocesses" according to SAP Note1454536 to reduce the risk of deadlocks. This is especially valid for parallel imports (see below).

Ensure, that the import programs (tp and R3trans) are up to date, to reduce the probability ofimport problems.

For faster processing, it is possible to activate parallel import functionality, during the import ofthe ProNovia product transports if there is no known contraindication. See SAP Note 1127194 forfurther details.
