The grating features standard I-bars on 100mm centers and cross rods on 100mm spacings. A 3.2 mm pultruded FRP plate is bonded to the bottom grating layer to create a stay-in-place concrete form.

Bridge Deck consists of two layers of pultruded FRP I-bar grating separated by FRP connectors with nylon bolts. The components are: • I-bars (38 mm) running continuously in the direction perpendicular to traffic; • Three-part cross rods running through pre-drilled holes spaced at 100 mm on-center in the I-bars web in the direction parallel to traffic; and • Two-part vertical connectors that space the grating layers 100 mm apart. A 3.2 mm pultruded FRP plate is bonded to the bottom grating layer to create a stay-in-place concrete form.
