He has completed postgraduate training with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute in Colorado, U.S. and went on to be a lead trainer with that organisation, teaching psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists in the fields of trauma and attachment across the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and Australia. Andrew has trained in other trauma related models such as EMDR, Brain-spotting and Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM). He is also a teacher in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), having trained with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at the University of Bangor, North Wales. In 2013, Andrew and his family emigrated to Western Australia to accept a Senior Therapist position in a psychiatric day hospital. Andrew now divides his time between providing training across Australia in body based approaches to psychotherapy and a private practice in Bunbury WA. Through a combination of lecture material, experiential exercises and discussion, this workshop will introduce a body oriented approach to working with unresolved trauma. Andrew’s approach to training draws on Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and encompasses the most recent theoretical understanding regarding neuroscience and the impact of our experiences on our body, as well as providing a clear and pragmatic link between theory and practice. Review current neuroscience and practical applications in relation to safe trauma work. Understand the role of the body in trauma treatment including the role of procedural learning and its relevance to trauma treatment. Apply simple somatic techniques to facilitate client’s self- regulation including directed mindfulness. Acquire increased knowledge and skills in assisting clients to develop body based resources and enable them to experience and stabilise embodiment. Understand the significance of the relational field in body based psychotherapy. To confirm your booking, payment must be received within 10 business days of booking, or of an invoice being issued. Early bird tickets must be paid before the early bird closing date, or the full fee will apply. If payment is not received within 5 business days of the event, SASS reserves the right to cancel your booking.

A refund of your payment less 10% of the total service price will be provided if cancellation is made 14 days or more prior to the booked event.

A 100% training credit voucher will be provided in lieu of refund if cancellation is made between 7-14 days of booked event. This training credit voucher will be valid for 12 months from issue date.

No refund will be provided if cancellation is made within 7 days of the booked event.

No refund or credit will be provided for participants that do not show for a booked event. Tickets are transferable by email notification at least 7 days before the event.
