transport v . 运输；运送 Most of our luggage was transported by sea. The seeds are transported by the wind. n. 运输；运送 The transport of goods by air is very expensive. It is easier to travel if you have your own transport.

charge, price, fee, fare, cost, expense 这些名词均有“价格，费用”之意。charge 指提供服务时索取的费用，也指货 物的价格、价钱。price 指商品在市场出售的价格，尤指卖方对商品所提出的单价。比喻意义指付出的代价。fare 侧重指旅行时所付的车、船费等费用。cost 指生产某东西的成本，也泛指商品的价格，可与 price 换用。

insist 在句中是“坚决主张，坚决要求”，后接的宾语从句用虚拟语气，动词由“should + 动词原形”构成， should 可省略。He insisted that we (should) accept these gifts.

Jane insisted that he (should) be present.

insist 还有“强调；坚持认为”的意思，后接的从句用陈述语气，即按需要选择时态。 He insisted that he hadn’t stolen the girl’s handbag.

He insisted that he had done right.

insist on / upon doing sth. 坚持做某事 I insisted on / upon his coming with us.

care about 关心；忧虑；惦念 She does not care about her child at all. Don't you care about this country's future?

care for 照顾；喜欢 ( 用于否定和疑问句中 ) Who will care for the children if their mother dies? Would you care for a cold drink? I don't care for music.

determined adj. 坚决的；有决心的My mother is a very determined woman. They were determined to fight on to the end. determine v. 决定；确定；下定决心He has determined to propose a new method.My mom's encouragement determined me to go on with my study.

decide, determine 都含“决定”之意。

decide 侧重指经过思考、比较、讨论

或询问之后做出的决定。

determine 指经过深思熟虑，决心去做

某事并坚持施行。

change one’s mind 改变主意He find it impossible to make her change her mind.

mind 的短语还有： speak one’s mind 直言不讳 bear / keep in mind 记住 , 记在心里 give one’s (whole) mind to 一心一意地 /专心做 ....

11. Once she has made up her mind, nothing

can change it. make up one’s mind to do sth.= decide to do sth. At last I made up my mind to watch TV at home.

once 在这里是连词，引导状语从句，意为“一旦”。如： Once you listen to the song, you will never forget it.

once 做副词，意为“一次、曾经”

He goes to the cinema once a week.

This book was once very popular but no one reads it today.

once 做名词，意为“一次” Once is enough. Be pleasant to each other just this once.

once 的常见短语： at once 立即　 all at once 突然　 once more 再一次 once a while 偶尔

give in 投降；屈服；让步 He has given in to my views.

They have courage and do not give in easily give in 呈交You must give in your examination papers now.

give up 放弃give away 赠送，送出，背叛，泄露 give out 分发 give rise to 引起，使发生，导致 give off 发出 ( 光等 ), 放出，散发 give back 归还，送回，反射，恢复 give birth 产仔，生孩子
