Building a New IIT --- Some challenges, opportunities and travails • A unique endeavor

• Not just preserving the brand IIT, but enhancing it

• Somewhat of a lonely journey • You are at an older IIT with

thousands of students and large faculty, running a big lab with large number of students at all levels

• All of a sudden you are at a place where there are very few students and no faculty

• A typical 3 lecture course has 3 credits leading to 42 lecture hours in a semester.

• Fractional credits can be 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 having 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 lectures hours respectively.
