What is Carbon Monoxide?

a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas, CO, that burns with a pale-blue flame, produced when carbon burns with insufficient air

How does Carbon Monoxide Kill?

Carbon Monoxide kills by binding to haemoglobin.

In normal conditions, oxygen attaches to the heamoglobin in Red Blood Cells. Then the oxygen molecules bond to the atom of iron that’s in the middle of the ring in each molecule of The oxygen then is bound tightly enough to be carried around the body, but not so tight that it can never be released again when it needsto

When Carbon Monoxide is inhaled, it acts like oxygen, somewhat, by binding to the Iron in heamoglobin, but it binds so tight that it cannot later be released. As a result, all of the heamoglobin binds with the Carbon Monoxide, so there aren’t any left to transport the oxygen, causing you to suffocate

Death by Carbon Monoxide

April 1st, 2013 Shain Gandee, his uncle and a friend died of carbon monoxide poinsoning.

They were going “mudding” and the car they were in sank into mud, covering the exhaust pipe.

What is Gasoline?

a volatile, flammable liquid mixture of hydrocarbons, obtained from petroleum, and used as fuel for internal-combustion engines, as a solvent, etc.

It is used as fuel for anything with a motor for example: cars and planes

Gasoline Shortage

Increase in price means decrease in quantity

From January 2012 to January 2012

What is Butane?

a colorless, flammable gas, C 4 H 10 , a saturated aliphatic existing in two isometric forms: used chiefly in the manufacture of rubber and as fuel (REWORD)

Butane is used for cigarette lighter fluid, glassmaking, camping and cooking on a grill

New Form of Carbon

hard enough to indent diamonds

created by a team of researchers from the US and China

the new material, known as ordered amorphous carbon clusters (OACC)

structurally unique in having both crystalline and disordered elements

Butane Barrels in Louisiana

1.5 million barrels of butane plus 1.5 million barrels of radio active waste and a sink-hole of equal size between the two 1.5 million barrels of chemicals to allow mixing and rupture results into the Bayou disappearing
