WHAT IS ARENA TREC? This fun competition consists of two of the three phases of full TREC, the MA and PTV. There is no POR (map-reading) phase. Riders compete over a course of approximately 10 PTV obstacles within a set time, scoring points for each one completed. Obstacles simulate the type of challenges you could meet out hacking, for example crossing a footbridge, leading your horse across a ditch, jumping a small log, bending between poles or remounting. If you want to opt out of a particular obstacle you just stop and tell the judge before continuing. Some obstacles may specify they must be done led. Full details on how each obstacle is judged is available in the 2018 TREC GB Rulebook. Some obstacles may be adapted for use in an arena. The MA/Control of Paces phase involves riding along a marked track (usually 2 metres wide and 50 metres long around the edge of the arena) in a slow canter and a fast walk. Points are awarded according to a scoring table. In winter competitions the available points for this phase are halved to keep the right balance between the phases. Not all our classes include this phase. WHAT DO I WEAR? Safe and suitable riding clothing and footwear, no need for show jackets or cream jodhpurs. Please read the rules regarding hats and tack. ENTRIES If entries are full before the closing date further entries will be placed on the waiting list and riders notified. Please enter early to avoid disappointment! Full refunds will be given for withdrawals before the closing date. Any refunds after the closing date are entirely at the organiser’s discretion. Classes will run in the stated order. Please state on entry form if you would like early/late times within a class or are travelling with another rider. Start times will be published on www.white-horse-trec.co.uk on the Wednesday before the event. Come along on the day and collect your number bib. The course will be open for walking at set times during the day. The placings are decided by the combined total of points from the PTV and MA sections, in the case of equality the higher PTV score wins. Every rider receives a rosette. HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE? Visit our website www.white-horse-trec.co.uk for more information. We also have a Facebook page and you can contact us via Twitter too.

HELP!!! Please note that events like this rely heavily on the valued support of volunteer helpers and learning to judge, scoring or timing rounds are great ways to learn more.. If you or someone you know can come and assist on the day, with judging, helping to set up the course, or looking after the judges, please can you contact Paula Bean ([email protected]). Tel. 07951019965 All help gratefully accepted. Even better, if you can let us know in advance.

All TREC GB classes are open to Members and Non Members of TREC GB – but only paid up members will have their scores to count in the TREC GB Winter Leagues. Each of the TREC GB league classes 2-4 and 7-8(above) will have their own national league. League points will be awarded depending on finishing position: 10 points for 1st down to 1 point for 10th place. The highest four scores will be counted for the league. In the event of equal positions after 4 events the position at a fifth event will be taken into account. If still equal the TOTAL actual PTV scores (from 4 events) will be taken into account. WHY NOT BECOME A MEMBER OF WHITE HORSE TREC GROUP? Membership year runs from 1 November. You’ll receive reduced entry to club events, can obtain discounted training from registered trainers and take part in events under British Riding Clubs plus much more.
