MATHLETICS MATHS CHALLENGE Esther, Mia, Isaac, Phoebe and Evie all took part in the Oswestry School Mathletics Challenge, this week. All the pupils enjoyed the event, along with fifteen other schools in the area, and Mia commented: "It was fun, but hard!" Each pupil contributed excellently, supported each other and behaved beautifully. YEAR 6 AT LIFELINE On Monday this week, Year 6 went to Lifeline at Park Hall. We visited different stalls, where we learnt how to keep ourselves safe in different situations. First of all, we went outside, where we had to think where a safe place would be if we wanted to cross the road. A car came towards 'us' (a balloon), driving at 30 MpH. It took 23 metres to stop, and we (luckily the balloon) ended up under the wheels of the car. It was a real eye opener. We heard about safety on bikes (this was great, as we had just done Bikeability), but also about Fire safety, safety on a farm, cyber bullying, internet safety, stranger danger. We were even shown CPR. Most of us were intrigued by the safety on the railway line. We would like to thank the Rotary Club, who organise this event every year. As it happens, they are looking for local businesses to sponsor this worthwhile event. If you would be interested, please let Mrs. Cook know, who will put you in touch with the Rotary. Year 6 Hawks SCHOOL COUNCIL – AUTUMN TERM Autumn term is a busy one for the School Council with lots of activities and events to organise. Our first focus of the term is to organise the Oswestry Food Bank to attend our harvest service in church and accept the food that has been donated. We will then plan events for Children in Need on Friday 15th November and a Friendship Assembly later in the term. More details for these events to follow.
