Page 2: Trek Sierra Nevada - Cañada del Sereno Easy stop for a ...Natural de la Sierra de Huétor, and turn left to cross the motorway. Turn right onto a dirt road where you see a signpost

1. The route starts by the information

board and is clearly marked with

wooden posts with white arrows. Turn

right along the path.

2. After 2.5km you will reach a

viewpoint with an information panel

pointing out the mountains that are

visible, which on a clear day

include the Sierra Nevada.

3. About 1.5km further on, take a small

detour to the left of the path to get to

another viewpoint.

4. Take the left fork down a steep hill

(marked). You can either take the

winding main path or a steeper shortcut.

5. At the bottom of the hill, turn left

onto a dirt road, then, after 1km turn

left onto a path (6), both marked.

7. At the bottom of a rocky slope you

will reach a grassy area popular for

family picnics.

8. Shortly afterwards turn left onto a

dirt road.

9. After about 1km

you will get to the

source of the river

Darro (known as

Fuente de la Teja)

where there is also

a spring for refilling

drinking water.

10. After about 800m, turn left at the

junction (marked Cañada del Sereno)

and follow the dirt road back to the start

point.
