TO THE FUTURE

ACTA-VILITY

Generation Z are creating a movement of change. This movement is orientating around creating a sustainable and ethical future for the upcoming generation, in order to preserve our planet. Passive activism is used in order for the young eco-influencers views and opinions to be heard.

The mood of the trend is one of bold digression from the norm, as the tribes are moving away from fast fashion and animal products and instead embracing notions of animal welfare and environmentally friendly options.

The colour palette for the trend predominantly consists of harmonious colours of greens and blues, as the trend is built upon the notion of people living in harmony with nature. However, the complimentary colour red symbolises the activism associated with the trend, as there is frustration amongst the tribe over unethical practices. For the autumn and winter 2018 collection I have used darker tones.

For the tribe, outerwear and jackets have to be a staple piece that goes against the fast fashion industry. They want a coat that’s going to be able to last them all year and provide the comfort and shelter that a coat or jacket should, all while having a bold and powerful silhouette that best represents the influence this tribe will have on the world. The tribe expects a sustainable and ethically produced product from a transparent company.

‘The plastic anorak’ uses recycled materials such as plastic carrier bags and uses a patchwork technique. The anorak is functional whilst being very sustainable.

‘The printed bomber’ uses a strong military stance that fits within the tribe of power to create a new movement. The use of print can be used as a ‘voice’. The print can use repetitive patterns or writing while the details such as stitching and the inside lining will be a bright, bold colour.

‘THE VOCAL DENIM’

Using a classic denim jacket inspired from the 1960’s, which saw a new cultural movement. Inspired by rock and roll, ‘the vocal denim’ allows the tribe to freely express themselves using slogans on the back of the denim jacket.

The denim industry heavily contributes to water waste and green house gases to the environment. With an emerging greener chemistry process ‘advanced denim’, a pair of jeans uses 92% less water and 30% less energy. This denim jacket will be made with this process in a sustainable way.

The future for the tribe consists of using eco and sustainable materials such as organic cotton, hemp and recycled plastic. It’s all about creating the new from old. These shapes are flowy and comfortable that have bold and structured silhouettes that stand out within the mood of the tribe.
