The Time is coming soon when we will say goodbye to our seasonal residents!Take good care of yourselves while you are away, as we will all be looking forward to your return! Please take a moment to look at the list below before you leave. There are some helpful hints regarding the care and protection of your home while you are away. Turn off the water to your home. Turn off the hot water heater at breaker with Keep the air conditioning running: set between 78 &

80’. If you have a humidistat, it is recommended setting

the humidistat to control the HVAC. Consider disconnecting certain appliances from their

power supply (TB, stereo, computers, etc.) to protect them from lightning and power surges.

Have a hurricane plan in place: know who will install and remove your shutters, and have someone who will be willing to check your home for damage should a hurricane happen.

Remove all potted plants and other loose items from the exterior of your home so they do not become hazard during a hurricane.

Consider asking a neighbor or home watch service to water your home. It is extremely important to have someone to flush commodes, run water through the bathroom faucets, tubs, and showers, check the pool, and air conditioning.

Notify the Post Office and have your mail forward-ed.

Golf Shop News – April 2014 The season is moving by quicker than ever. We in the Golf Shop can’t believe it is April already! So, as we head into the last month of official season, we would like to thank those who took part in our fun weekly and monthly events. We sincerely hope you enjoyed the golf, the camaraderie and the interesting formats! This month, we are planning the first-ever TPC Treviso Bay Member/Member to be held on Saturday & Sunday, April 12th & 13th. This is an event to close out the season where players choose a partner and play together in a team format. We will have both a Men’s and Women’s Championship and – depending on the number of players to sign-up – flights of teams within each Championship. Sign-up begins Saturday, March 29th so stop in the Golf Shop or call 239-331-2052 for details and to sign-up. Please remember, players wishing to play in any club-run golf event must possess a valid USGA handicap within the Treviso Bay handicap system and have a minimum of 10 scores posted. A member of the Professional Staff will be happy to help with any questions you may have regarding any of our events or the handicap system. On another topic: Due to the vast popularity of our golf course, we fully expect to be sold-out every day during the sea-son. Because of this, we ask for consideration of other members when the need for changing or canceling a tee time arises. . Our policy states that a minimum of 24 hour notice must be given when making a change or cancelation to a tee time. This will allow Golf Shop staff the opportunity to offer the opening to another member of the club. Reciprocal season begins May 1st with select area clubs. We are communicating with these other clubs and compiling our 2014 Reciprocal List and plan to have it available to our homeowner members by April 20th. As in the past, we ask that any members looking to take advantage of the Reciprocal program fill out our ‘Reciprocal Request Form’ and sub-mit it to the Golf Shop at least 2 days in advance of the day you would like to play. Keep in mind, reciprocal clubs will be very busy so the more information you can give to us on your Request Form, the better your chances of securing a tee time at one of these fine clubs. Please be flexible and broad on your time-frame as we will not book a time that is outside your requested window. We look forward to seeing all of you on the golf course this season, during the summer months or next season and thank you all for a great 2013/2014 season here at TPC Treviso Bay!! J Golfingly,

J.D. Murray, PGA Head Golf Professional TPC Treviso Bay

Top 5 Reasons to exercise in the Morning: If I had to pick a single factor that I thought was most important in a successful exercise or weight loss pro-gram, it would be to exercise first thing in the morning-every morning! Some mornings, you may just be able to fit in a 10 minute walk, but it’s important to try to do something every morning. So why mornings?... 1. Over 90% of people who exercise “consistently”, exercisein the morning, If you want to exercise con-

sistently, odds are in your favor if you exercise first thing in the morning, 2. When you exercise early in the morning, it “jump starts” your metabolism and keeps it elevated for

hours, sometimes up to 24 hours! That means you’re burning more calories all day long just because you exercised in the morning!

3. When you exercise in the morning you’ll be reenergized for the day! Personally, I feel dramatically different on days when I have and haven’t exercised in the morning.

4. Many people find that morning exercise regulates their appetite for the day– that they aren’t as hun-gry and that they make better food choices. Serveral people have told me that it puts them in a “healthy mindset.”

5. If you exercise at about the same time every morning, and ideally wake-up at about the same time on a regular basis, your body’s endocrine system and circadian rhythms adjust to that. Physiologically, some wonderful things begin to happen: A couple of hours before you awake, your body begins to pre-pare for waking and exercise because it “knows” it’s about to happen. Why? Because it “knows” you do the same thing just about everyday. You benefit from that in several ways…

A) It’s MUCH easier to wake-up. When you wake-up at different times everyday, it confuses your body and thus it’s never really “prepared” to awaken. B) Your metabolism and all the hormones involved in activity and exercise begin to elevate while you’re sleeping. Thus, you feel more alert, energized, and ready to exercise when you do wake-up. C) Hormones prepare you body for exercise by regulating blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow to muscles, etc.

Letters from our Homeowners

Birds of Treviso Bay Although I love to bird I do not put myself in the classification of an expert by any means. We are fortunate here in Treviso to have a varied selection of birds. Eagle Lakes, Naples Community Centre, and Sugden Park are also good places for sightings and within walking or biking distance. There are many different Herons and Egrets in Treviso. I have included pictures of two herons. The bird on the left is the Tri-Colored Heron. The bird on the right is the Little Blue Heron. I have not included a picture of the Great Blue Heron as, I am sure you can all recognize it by its size. I am not a photographer as I do not even own a good camera so I have looked to Wik-ipedia for pictures. Bear with me as this article is about birds not about my lack of photographic ability. I will start with the Little Blue Heron. It is most easily identifiable by its bluish beak with a black tip. This bird stands 24 inches tall with a wing span of 40 inches. It is a solitary bird although I have seen it along the shore of our pond with Wood Stork and Ibis. It is a delicate looking bird in comparison to the Great Blue. This bird forages in a very slow manner holding its neck for-ward with its beak angled down which allows it to quickly stab a tasty morsel in the water. Immature Little Blue is always white (between June and April). Between April and June it will start to turn color and will appear spotted. In its white state it can be confused with the White Egret so focus on the bill and leg color which is greenish. Great Blue Heron. No need to say very much about this bird as it is easily identified by its size as it is the largest Heron. It stands 46 inches tall with a 72 inch wing span. It sometimes stands with its neck tucked down. This Heron can be identified in the air as it flies with its neck tucked in. Tricolored Heron. This heron is often misidentified as a Little Blue Heron. Its size is comparable, however, it has a dark breast and contrasting white belly. The Tricolor forages quickly, stabbing at fish as it walks through the water, unlike the slow motion foraging of the Great Blue and Little Blue. A juvenile Tricolor will have rusty color neck and body from July to February. When you are out walking, biking or golfing, watch for the beauty of the birds around you, although I can say from personal experience that birding while riding a bike can be dangerous. Some other birds I have seen in Treviso: Loggerhead Shrike, Pileated Woodpecker, Red Bellied Woodpecker, Swallow Tail Kite,

Kestrel, Palm Warbler, Yellow Rump Warbler, Mockingbird, Killdeer, Pie-billed Grebe, Anhinga, Double Crested Cormorant,

Bald Eagle, and Red Shouldered Hawk.
