LIGO Will Offer a Public Celebration on Saturday March 12th, 2016The Discovery Celebration will provide an opportunity for the public to hear details of LIGO’s recently announced historic detection of gravitational waves from a pair of colliding black holes. In addition, LIGO will celebrate the date of Albert Einstein’s birth(March 14) and the 100-year anniversary of Einstein’s general theory of relativity. Other activities on March 12th will include observatory tours, hands-on science exhibits, an Einstein portrait contest, and the opportunity to decorate a commemorative tile that will become a permanent part of LIGO’s grounds. Animals you might spot inside of the park include deer, elk, geese, rabbits and squirrels.
