What is a parish? The Catechism of the Catholic Church goes on to say that the parish is “the place where all the faithful can be gathered together for the Sunday celebration of the Eucharist. The parish initiates the Christian people into the ordinary expression of the liturgical life: it gathers them together in this celebration; it teaches Christ’s saving doctrine; it practices the charity of the Lord in good works and brotherly love” (no. 2179). The Second Vatican Council notes that the parish provides the first experience of Church for the vast majority of Catholics. Throughout their lives, it is the fundamental face of the Church, the locus for almost every significant ecclesiastical experience throughout a Catholic’s life, from Baptism to First Communion to Confirmation and Marriage. Even after death, the spiritual life of a Catholic is still tied to the parish in the celebration of a funeral, as well as in Mass intentions for them and in other public prayers for the final repose of the souls of the faithful departed. The parish is one of the primary places in which the faithful are to live out their baptismal call to imitate Christ. How do we as a cluster innovatively foster each parish in this era of fewer priests? What aspects of parish life do we need to develop improve? How do we engage people of all ages? Have peace filled week! Fr. Ron Community Events:

School News From Safari...

Holy Cross We are still in search of class pictures for the Dinner & Auction. If you can send a copy of your graduation picture to the school, we’ll make a copy and give it back to you. Thanks! Invitations were sent out earlier this week. If you didn’t receive one and would like to attend, please contact the school office. We’d be more than happy to send you an invitation! We apologize for any inconvenience that anyone encountered this weekend, getting to Mass. There are too many people in Pearl Lake, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day to get any cars in town for Mass. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the food stand for a burger or brat! Thank you to Rudy and the Pearl Lake Lodge and The Knaus Sausage House for supplying the burgers and brats for the food stand! Thank you to our parents for working the stand and helping with clean up. During the Lenten Season, the students and staff have been spending time talking about sacrifice and serving others. Here’s a funny story; on Ash Wednesday, one of our Pre-Schooler’s came into school and said, “I need to figure out what I’m giving up for Lent.” I said, “How about candy?” He said, “No way! I like candy!” I said what he gave up needed to be a sacrifice. He said, “What’s sacrifice?” I said, “Exactly.” Then, during breakfast, we had a little talk about sacrifice. I’m not sure that he gave up candy, but I do think he knows what sacrifice is, or at least as much as a four year can know about sacrifice. St. Wendelin The numbers are in for our MN Sports Spectacular. With your help, we raised $16,371.87. That is fantastic!!! Thank you to all of you who came to the event and/or donated to it. It was definitely a successful event. Spread the word. We are having an open house carnival style on April 1st from 9-11. Invite your friends and family to check out the school and have some carnival fun. Our Monday, Wednesday, Friday preschool program has one spot available. We are going to offer a Tuesday-Thursday program as well next year. So if the 3 day program doesn't work for you, maybe the two day program will. Stop in and see Lynn or give her a call if you are interested in either of our programs. 225-9175.
