Several deputies from the Sheriff’s Office volunteered their time as “buddies” at the annual Challenger Baseball World Series at Frontier Field on Saturday, June 24. Deputies from the Police Bureau included; Sergeant Bob Murphy, Deputies Mike Anderson, Brad Fisher, Dave Wood, Chris Reynolds, and Scott McKinney. Deputy Tara Russo from the Court Security Bureau serves as a board member to Challenger Miracle Field in Webster. She was also in attendance. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office have been involved in Challenger Baseball for a number of years thanks to Marylou Yuskiewicz. The deputies help children of all abilities run the bases and deputies say they love seeing the smiles on the faces of the children who participate. Sheriff O’Flynn served as this year’s hon- orary chairman of the law enforcement torch run that took place on June 2nd. Undersheriff Forsythe and deputies from the police bureau, jail bureau, and court bureau all participated in a run from Gates Town Hall to Downtown Rochester on the 2nd. The undersheriff ran with his friend Timmy who is a special olympics athlete. Sheriff O’Flynn helped to sell American Flags in honor of Flag Day on June 14th. The sale of these flags assists the Veterans Outreach Center of Rochester. The support helps local veterans find jobs, secure hous- ing, continue education and transition to civilian life.
