TCSD ModulesThe modules for receiving digital programs(DVB-S) have been designed to fit into an ana-log TCH system, so that a mix of analog anddigital modules is possible in the same system.Due to the fact that digital receiving modulesneed more space, it is necessary to use 2 mo-dules occupying 2 TCH slots to receive digitalprograms.The first module in the system is similar to theanalog modules of the TCH sat receiver, wherethe analog sat receiver is replaced by a DVB-Sreceiver, and the 15P D-SUB connector is re-placed by a 34P IDC connector. This connec-tor is for I2C control, TS output and A/V inputto/from the MPEG2/CI module.The second module in the system consists of2 pc boards: A MPEG2 decoder pc board anda Common Interface pc board, which ismounted on the MPEG2 decoder pc board. Onthe Common Interface pc board is a 34P IDCconnector, which is for I2C control, TS input andA/V output from/to the DVB-S receiver pc board.If conditional access is needed to receive theprogram, a PC card module from the programprovider is to be inserted the PC card connec-tor on the Common Interface pc board.

The 2 modules for receiving digital programs(e.g. TCSD661 consisting of TCSD641 +TCSD651) must be placed besides each otherwith the TCSD 651 in the highest slot number.

The 2 modules are connected by means of the34P IDC cable.TCSD 641 DVB-S / DSB multi standard

VHF mono.TCSD 642 DVB-S / DSB multi standard

UHF mono.TCSD 643 DVB-S / DSB multi standard

VHF stereo.TCSD 644 DVB-S / DSB multi standard

UHF stereo.TCSD 651 DVB-MPEG2 / CI.

TCSD 661 = TCSD 641 + TCSD 651.TCSD 662 = TCSD 642 + TCSD 651.TCSD 663 = TCSD 643 + TCSD 651.TCSD 664 = TCSD 644 + TCSD 651.

TV StandardThe TV standard is programmed on the DIP-SW on TCSD 641/2/3/4 as shown in the figurebelow. Settings of the DIP-SW also control thevideo standard of the MPEG2 decoder, so thatat the same time it is set to correct PAL orSecam standard.Note: The modules are pre-set for system B/G(PAL). All other parameters are set by meansof the keyboard and at the same time stored inthe memories in the System Control andMPEG2 decoder.

Programming:When the equipment is switched on the soft-ware version of the System Control is dis-played for approx. 2 seconds, and then themodules are programmed with the settingsstored last in the memories of the SystemControl and the MPEG2 decoder.

The programming instructions show how toset different parameters by means of thekeyboard.During programming the display only showsthe menus to which the module type inquestion has access.If an already applied channel is chosenduring the programming of the output channelof a module, the display will flash.

Replacement of module:• Check that the software version number

printed on the label of the module(e.g. SW. 1.1) is lower or equal to theversion number which is shown shortly inthe display at power-on.

• Check that the module is set at the TVstandard wanted(see programming of TV standard).

• Place the module in the Basic Unit andfinally programme the module.

When changing from one module to anothersimilar module, the modulator set-up is notchanged, but the MPEG/CI module is changedin the MPEG flash memory.When replacing a module of another type,problems of placing the output channel mayarise. The system control will automaticallyallocate the next vacant channel to the module.If problems arise when placing a new module,the display will show an error code at power-on.Causes and a detailed explanation of thedifferent error codes are shown in a table onthe programming schema.Contact your dealer if you need an upgrade ofthe software.
