GSTDREIS
Gujarat State Tribal Developmental Residential Educational
Institutions Society (GSTDREIS), an autonomous Society,
created by Tribal Development Department, Government of
Gujarat, in the year 2000 for establishing, managing the
residential schools and providing quality education to ST
children on the pattern of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas/
Kendriya Vidyalayas/ High quality urban residential Schools.
The society is registered under Bombay Public Charitable
Trust act 1950 and Society's Registration Act 1860.
Major Activities of GSTDREIS Selection of Meritorious students through EMRSET and enrollment drive for GRS and Model School Creation of conducive environment for learning Cooperative learning and Learning by doing Focuses on extra curricular activities and life skills Biometric Attendance and Computer Aided Learning System (BACALS) SATCOM basecd tutorial classes for English language enhancement;
Recruitment of Teachers and Regular trainings to teachers and other staff members. Exposure visit of teachers and staff Gunotshav for all the schools to understand the real educational needs of the students and follow up action.
Provision of nutritious food and milk to ensure sound physical and mental health. Monthly health check up and additional care to the students. Regular visit of local health worker/ anganwadi worker to the schools.
SMART Schools- BaLA;
Green building for each of our schools. All kinds of lab facilities in the school campus (Science laboratory, Mathematics laboratory) Provision of activity hall, music room, green house, etc. that will engage students in extra curricular activities. Creating IT lab and whole in the wall facility .
Handing over the school management to selective agencies to ensure quality education in the schools. Development of PPP guideline. Tie up with other Govt. departments or Pvt. Bodies to enhance the educational standard;

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

• Capture Biometric attendance of Students, Teachers
& Administrative staff and create centralised database
• Enable Computer Aided Learning (CAL) through
standard education software
• Ensure Transparency & Accountability in processes
coupled with effective monitoring by generation of
MIS reports

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Project Model : Build Own Operate (BOO) basis for 5 years
Project Period : 1st Oct 2012 to 30th Sep 2017
Payment to Implementing agency is on per unit per quarter
basis for Zone I – Rs. 4127/- & for Zone II – Rs. 4170/- per
unit.
One unit comprises of Computer along with USB based
Biometric device
Total Project cost for 5 years : approx. Rs. 187 Cr.
(Based on the number of units installed)

Data of students, teachers and other staff is captured through
enrollment process
Data stored in School Server Unit is used for verification and
attendance authentication
Four Fingers of each user captured (2 Index & 2 Thumbs) in order to
minimize rejection
Audio visual signal to denote the success and failure of attendance
marking process
Attendance information is transmitted to District Head Quarters
(DHQ) at periodic intervals
System Clock locked against changes in attendance timing
Centralized database hosted at the State Head Quarters (SHQ). The
raw images of fingerprints will be maintained only at the central
server

The grant disbursal has been linked to the
Biometric based attendance in schools managed
by TDD and Education Department and this has
resulted in considerable saving in grants
With Computer Aided Learning (CAL), teaching
& learning has improved significantly.
