Greatest Success To Date
Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA)
• ODOT WMA specification/ guidance was developed and implemented.
• Placed about 329,100 tons from 2009 through September 2012 including 287,200 tons WMA in 2012.
• 45 WMA mix designs approved as of September 2012 • 65 of the state’s 73 state asphalt plants have been
modified to use WMA.
Greatest Success To Date
Safety Edge
• A new Safety Edge special provision was developed in November 2010 and is included in all applicable ODOT.
• Since that day, more than 231 projects have been constructed using Safety Edge (156 in 2010 and 2011 and 75 in 2012).
