BANK OF TRAINWORLD C.E.O. SHOT!C.E.O.WILLIAM CHASER SHOT IN TRAINWORLD CITY, SUSPECT SHOT DEAD !

Story By Justin Ink: Trainworld City: One of the Republics most prominent and powerful figures was shot yesterday afternoon in Trainworld City as he exited a branch of the Bank of Trainworld. Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Trainworld, Dr. William Chaser, was shot in front of the Main Street branch of the Bank of Trainworld as he was leaving for the day. The suspect subsequently fled the scene in a car, was cornered later by Trainworld City Police and was shot and killed after exchanging gunfire with officers. Chaser, 56, was rushed to Saint Carols Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds and remains in “very serious condition”.

Witnesses to the shooting say that around 3:30pm a man in a green Buick wearing a ski mask pulled up in front of the Main Street Branch of the Bank of Trainworld just as Chaser emerged from the bank. Chaser was locking the door for the day when he turned to see the assailant, holding a shotgun at him and demanding he open the safe or give him the combination. Chaser refused and was shot. The assailant fled the scene as Chaser fell back into the bank enclave, suffering from the blast of a shotgun.

“It was all over in two minutes,” said Joe Balach, who was leaving the Hot Ladle Café next door and witnessed the shooting. “It was like watching a film, it seemed so surreal,” he said. Balach, a colonel in the Trainworld Air

National Guard, immediately called the medics and police and then tended to Chaser’s wounds until they arrived. “He was in pretty bad shape”, said Balach. “He had lost a lot of blood from that shotgun wound in the abdomen.”

A Trainworld City police cruiser spotted the green Buick a short time after the shooting when an APB was issued over the police radio. They picked up the Buick on Armstrong Avenue – across from City Hall and attempted a traffic stop but the car sped away not stopping for patrol cars. The vehicle fled and led the police on a short chase down Fitzgerald Boulevard where the suspect weaved his car in and out of oncoming traffic and over sidewalks until he lost control and crashed into the back alley and rear entrance of Maki’s Old World Meats just off of Raleigh Street. The suspect got out of the car and began shooting at police officers who returned fire and shot the suspect. He was taken by ambulance to Saint Carols Memorial Hospital where he died a short time later.

The Trainworld City Police Department has identified the suspect as 29 year old Richard Gray, originally from Pontiac, Michigan in the United States but was living in Railton here on the Island most recently. He has a record of several minor crimes in the United States, but had no record here on the Island. The true motive for the crime remains unclear, and authorities are speculating that this may have just been a robbery gone wrong, but the case remains under investigation. “We intend to investigate this incident as far as it goes and hope and pray for Mr. Chaser’s well being and survival,” said Lieutenant Theo Kojak, of the Trainworld City Police Department’s Vice Unit.

NAVY PROPOSES NEW SHIPSPRAEFECTUS PROPOSES SEVERAL NEW SHIPS FOR FLEET

Trainworld City: Story by Dustin Ink. Praefectus Benjamin Fearless has proposed to the Great Oracle a fleet of new capital ships, built here in the Republic on the Island, complete with the latest technology and standards. Praefectus Fearless has stated that the “time has come that we build our own modern ships, equipped with our own technology on vessels that are built specifically for our needs and defense here in the Great Lakes region.” In meetings with Primus Doggie, Deputy Primus Mangolini, Praetor Pen Gwynn, and Fleet Lord Daniel Wheat plans have emerged for several designs of a variety of different vessels, including heavy battlecruisers, aircraft carriers and a revolutionary battlecruiser/carrier hybrid. Although the exact details of the designs themselves are classified by the Triton, reports from those close to military sources say that there are “plans for a set each of large battlecruisers, aircraft carriers, and hybrid battlecruiser/carrier”.

‘We are currently working with several contractors and have several designs from local architects Borne and Freytag in Trainworld City and arranged for the ships to be built at Lee Key Shipyards in Fitzgerald, should the contracts go thru,” said Fleet Lord Wheat.

The Trainworld Maritime Defense Force (TMDF) is currently the largest naval fleet on the Great Lakes, and the only fleet on the Lakes to use aircraft carriers, heavy cruisers and battleships – which are all surplus World War Two era vessels bought from the United States Navy. Three vessels from the TMDF recently returned from expeditionary service in Korean waters, the battleship RTS Poseidon, the carrier RTS Neptune, and the heavy cruiser RTS Kraken.

“Although the capital vessels that are currently in service are adequate to serve our current needs, we are looking at the future requirements and longevity,” said Fearless. “Currently, Trainworldian technologies are on par with the best of those from our Allies in the area, namely the United States and Canada and we feel we can finally launch vessels of our own with our own technology and still be a viable power in this hemisphere. Our tests are almost complete on the Adama Industries new missile “XMR-AX2 Gorgon” and we feel as if missile and rocket technology will be the way of the future and hope to implement these technologies into these ships.”

Using large battleship type hulls for missile carriers and aircraft carriers is nothing new. In World War Two, the Japanese converted two old battleships to hybrid battlecarriers, although both were sunk by aircraft and the U.S. Navy has thought of using the last incomplete Iowa class battleship hull, the USS Kentucky, as either a guided missile cruiser or battle carrier.

MEHINA INVESTIGATION UNDER WAYHALL OF JUSTICE LOOKS INTO MISHAP AT RAILTON YARD

Trainworld City: Story by Hal Penman; A train accident that occurred in Railton Yard in Trainworld City on the 24th of May earlier this year is being investigated by the Hall of Justice and The Scientium’s Sub Oracle of Energy and Resources. A spill from a Mehina Coal and Chemical train consisting mostly of tank cars contained an unknown substance that was not listed on the trains manifest and caused quite a stir when fire fighters tried to clean up the mess. Trainworld City Fire Chief Zeke “Zippo” Kingsford, says that despite the manifest stating that the cargo carried was “lubricant, general” it smelled a lot like creosote and was a foam. “This was like no lubricant I’d ever seen. It looked and felt like shaving cream, but smelled like a railroad yard”, the Chief said. Railton Yard yardmaster, Barry Klinetobe, said he’s never seen anything like it either. “Looked like a bunch of foam. Didn’t look like any oil I’ve ever seen,” he said.

SCENE IN RAILTON YARD MAY 24th AFTER A DERAILMENT OF A MEHINA COAL AND CHEMICAL TRAIN

The unusual substance, coupled with the fact that it wasn’t listed specifically on the train manifest has raised some eyebrows and has prompted an investigation into the accident, specifically, to determine what caused the derailment and just what the substance was.

Carmen D. Hoxyde, CEO of the Mehina Coal and Chemical Company, says that his company will cooperate with investigators but that he will offer no further information at this time to the press as to the identity of the chemical that the train was carrying. “We’ve been in contact with the Hall of Justice legal team and the officials from the Scientium’s committee. We are still in the process of assembling information and a legal team for proper representation,” Hoxyde said.

According to sources, attorney Anthony Rubin has been hired by Mehina to represent them in the case. Pro Consul Dixie Brady is representing the government in the matter. “We have a responsibility, a duty, to the people of the Republic to protect them from harm, and if those tank cars contained harmful substances to the public, or the environment, than that’s something we’re going to look into and take very seriously,” she said.

TCR and DWP ADD NEW ENGINES TO FLEETS!DULUTH BASED DWP BECOMES LARGEST FLEET ON ISLAND!

TRAINWORLD CITY; Story by Dustin Ink: The Trainworld and Chippewa Range Railroad and the Duluth Winnipeg and Pacific Railroad both inked deals this week to add new locomotives to their fleets on the Island, citing increased growth and economic development as the impetus for their purchases. The Duluth, Minnesota based Duluth, Winnipeg and Pacific Railroad (DWP), itself a subsidiary of the Canadian National Railway, signed a deal to add five more ALCO RS-11 diesel engines to their Republic of Trainworld Division fleet. The RS-11’s, built by the American Locomotive Company, make the DWP the largest operating railroad on the Island with a total of 9 locomotives in service. Donald Gordon, President of the Canadian National, says that increased commerce and traffic on the Island necessitated the additional purchase. “We’ve seen a large increase in rail traffic in the Republic and rather than transfer some of our already operating locomotives from the West Duluth, Virginia (MN) yards or Winnipeg, Canada; we decided to purchase these five additional locomotives direct from ALCO to add to the existing RS-11 already operating here.”

In addition to the DWP, the TCR – Trainworld’s iron ore and steel hauling railroad, recently purchased 3 SD-38-2’s from the Santa Fe Railroad. Nathaniel Merritt, President of the TCR made the announcement at a recent meeting at the headquarters of the United States of Trainworld Steel Corproration, the TCR’s parent company. “We looked at our forecasts for the upcoming season and felt we could use some additional motive power between the mines, docks and mills. The Santa Fe recently bought these three units direct from General Motors Electro Motive Division (EMD) but opted instead to go with GP-7’s also from EMD as a cheaper alternative and we saw this as an opportunity to pick up fairly new engines cheap,” said Merritt. Two of the engines are already in service with a third being painted at the TCR shops in Boldon. One by one the engines will be painted in the TCR scheme and integrated into Chippewa service.
