  • MONDAY RELEASE CONTACT: Larry Levine January 8, 2018 (818) 906-8747 TRICIA ROBBINS KASSON ENTERS 45TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT SPECIAL ELECTION

WITH ENDORSEMENTS OF CITY COUNCILMEMBER BOB BLUMENFIELD AND LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRUSTEE ANDRA HOFFMAN

Tricia Robbins Kasson today (Monday, Jan. 8, 2018) announced she will be a candidate in the 45th Assembly District Special Election and that she is entering the race with the endorsements of L.A. City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield and L.A. Community College Trustee Andra Hoffman. Blumenfield represented the district in the Assembly before being elected to the City Council. His council district represents the largest portion of the Assembly District. Hoffman was elected to the College Board in 2015 and was considered the frontrunner in the Special Assembly District race until she announced last week that she would not be running. Robbins Kasson, 46, has served as Economic Development Deputy on Blumenfields staff the last two years. Before that, she was a planning associate at Rosenheim & Associates, where she worked on the Warner Center 2035 Specific Plan and other Warner Center matters. She holds a Master of Planning Degree, with a concentration of community and economic development from USC and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge. RAISED, EDUCATED AND WORKS IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY Robbins Kasson was raised in the West San Fernando Valley. She attended Kennedy High School and Pierce and Mission Community Colleges. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the American Planning Association and she is treasurer of the L.A. Metro Chapter of the National Womens Political Caucus. She lives in Tarzana. I am running for this office because I believe I have the skills and training to bring jobs and economic opportunity to the people of the West San Fernando Valley and to help change the culture in Sacramento, Robbins Kasson said. In both the private sector and on Councilmember Blumenfields staff, I have worked with and gotten to know the leaders of neighborhood councils, homeowners associations and the business community in the Valley. I have a deep understanding of the needs of the communities in the 45th Assembly District. HER FOCUS ON JOB CREATION AND OPPORTUNITY IS THE RIGHT FIT FOR THE VALLEY SEAT In endorsing Robbins Kasson, Blumenfield said, Tricia Robbins Kasson will be an outstanding addition to the State Assembly. She has a strong intellect, a wealth of integrity and will bring a fresh perspective to the legislature. I will make her election a high priority. I believe Tricia Robbins Kasson is the kind of person we need in the legislature in these difficult times, Hoffman said. Her life-story is that of someone who knows and understands the issues important to the working women and men of the West San Fernando Valley. She will be an ally in the effort to improve public education and she has a firm grasp of what is needed to develop a strong and growing economic base for our district. The Special Election will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Assemblymember Matt Dababneh. The Primary is expected to be scheduled for early April with the runoff concurrent with the June 5 statewide Primary Election.
