    FADE IN:

    INT. LANG RESIDENTS - BATHROOM - MORNING.

    WE COME UP on Lana in front of her bathroom mirror. Shestares for a moment, then sighs. She looks down at the sinkand turns the nozzle for cold water. She gets a small cup ofthe counter and fills it with water.

    Lana then opens up the cabinet and grabs a medicine bottle.She twists it open and gets two small white pills from it.She puts both of them in her mouth and drinks the water.

    She closes the cabinet and turns toward the door. She opensit and we find ourself in Lanas bedroom.

    INT. LANG RESIDENTS - LANAS BEDROOM - MORNING.

    She steps into her room and sees Cynthia, sitting down onthe bed. She looks up at Lana.

    LANAHey, Cynthia.

    Cynthia grins.

    CYNTHIAHey Lana.

    LANA

    Whats going on?

    CYNTHIAOh, nothing much. Just decided to

    wake up a few minutes ago. Ithought Id check in on you. Howare you feeling?

    LANAAlright, mostly. Ive just beenhaving more headaches. They seem tobe getting worse.

    CYNTHIASorry to hear that.

    LANAItll pass, I hope.

    Lana walks over to her bed and sits next to Cynthia.

    CYNTHIAI cant imagine what hes goingthrough. To find out aboutValentina like that...

    LANA

    It good pretty bad. Ive never seenhim so angry. It was like he wasanother person.

    CYNTHIAI dont blame him.

    INT. ODYSSEY - VALENTINAS HOUSE - DAY.

    Quentin is lying on his back on top of a queen sized bed. Hisarms are folded across his chest as he looks directly up atthe ceiling. He breathes in and out slowly, in deep thought.

    We hear voices murmuring in the distance and bright colorsappear to reflect off of Quentins face due to the darkenedroom. Quentin sits up and looks at the television which

    stands in front of the bed. On the screen is a blonde woman.Shes revealed to be Valentina. She is smiling as sheapproaches a house. She faces the camera.

    QUENTIN (O.S.)Val, what do you wanna say aboutour new home?

    VALENTINAs smile widens.

    VALENTINAI...I dont know what to say.

    BACK ON QUENTIN, on the bed.

    He smiles at the sight of his former bride to be. On hissmile, we --

    CUT TO:

    INT. CHECKMATE - SCIENTIFIC LABORATORY - DAY.

    We come up on a MASSIVE machine, which is being contained byan even larger clear tank. Pale white electrical energyswerves around the machine itself, emitting a loud cacklingnoise. A man wearing a white lab coat comes into the camerasview. He squints his eyes, then Amanda Wallers voice isheard.

    AMANDA (O.S.)Hows your progress Dr. Gilmore?

    Dr. Gilmore turns to face her as we reveal Amanda Waller withher arms folded.

    well actually. The data stored inthose files you gave us really shedsome light on some major aspects wehadnt thought of before.

    AMANDAIm glad they were helpful.

    Amanda nods.

    AMANDASo tell me Doctor...when will youhave this done?

    DR. GILMOREGive it time Agent Waller. We dont

    want to rush something like this.

    She raises her voice with intimidation.

    DR. GILMOREWithout proper testing and a stableenvironment, we could have it up inrunning before the night is over

    FADE IN:

    INT. CENTRAL BUREAU OF INTELLIGENCE - LOBBY - DAY.

    We come up on the C.B.I. Its just an average day as we seeemployees walking throughout the busy office. We pan over tothe front door and see Lana walking through them with abright smile oh her face. Shes ready to start another day at

    work. We walks over to the main desk to see Carter Wells andPete Ross. She smiles.

    LANAHey Pete.

    Pete looks up at her.

    PETE

    Lana...hi.

    LANAGot any work for me?

    PETEUhm, no not yet, despite the looksof the office, the day has beenpretty slow on our side.

    LANAThats, great news.

    PETEYeah, its been a while since we

    were able to get a littlerelaxation.

    LANATell me about it.

    Pete chuckles and then, Lana grunts and puts her hand on herforehead.

    PETEYou okay?

    LANAYeah, Ill be fine. Just beenhaving headaches all week.

    Lana grins slightly. We hear an elevator ring from thedistance and the camera moves over to the elevator. The doorsslide open and we reveal Amanda Waller, walking into thelobby. She walks over toward the front desk. Lana looks overto her as she approaches and smiles.

    LANADr. Waller, good morning.

    AMANDAGood morning Ms. Lang.

    Pete looks down.

    AMANDA (CONTD)Mr. Ross.

    Lana looks at Pete, confused as he forces a grin, while still

    looking down at the desk.

    LANAI hear its been a slow day so far.

    AMANDAWell, its that time of year Iguess. You arent complaining areyou?

    LANAOh no, its quite refreshing, butstill, whatever you need...

    AMANDAIll can count on you. Thank youLana.

    Lana grins, then so does Amanda. Waller looks back at Pete.

    AMANDA (CONTD)Ill see you two a little later.

    She nods, then walks the other way. Lana looks back at Petewith a confused expression.

    LANASomething wrong?

    PETEWhat? No, its-its nothing.

    Pete forces a smile and walks away from the front desk. Weclose in on Lanas face as she expresses concern.

    On that we --

    CUT TO:

    INT. WAREHOUSE - COMMAND CENTRAL - DAY.

    We come up on Command Central doors. We pause on them for a

    few moments until they are pushed open. We reveal Quentin,who walks inside. He looks up at the other side of the roomand stops in his tracks. He looks surprised.

    QUENTINWhat are you doing here?

    We cut over to the other side of the room to see Cynthia,standing there.

    CYNTHIAI guess I just, wanted to see howyou were doing.

    Quentin sighs and walks over to his computer.

    QUENTINIm fine.

    CYNTHIAAre you sure?

    QUENTINYes! Im fine.

    (frustrated)

    Cynthia is shocked at his tone. Quentin sighs.

    CYNTHIAIm sorry Quentin. I just--I saw aside of you that I never knewexisted. A dark and angry side. Ijust need to know that yourebetter.

    QUENTINI have to be. Lana needs me. I

    wont walk out on her because Ivehit a rough patch in the road. Iknow she would never do that to me.

    CYNTHIAShes a good friend, even thoughshe can be a little too serioussometimes.

    QUENTINYou havent known her that long.

    CYNTHIAI just mean, I think you need tolet go a little. I know you need tofocus on the mission but, theresnever not enough time for a littlefun.

    QUENTINI dont know if I can agree withthat.

    CYNTHIAIts true. When I felt I was in adark place or whenever I thought mylife wasnt worth living anymore, I

    went and did something I reallyenjoyed. Whether it was paintingor... I dont know, just going fora walk.

    INT. ODYSSEY - BAR - DAY.

    An average diner with a bar inside. We see a male figure,walking up to the bar. Were on the lower half of his body asthe camera slowly pans up. We reveal his face. The figure is -

    JAKE

    He walks up to the bar, and sits down on one of the stools.He looks to the left at the man at the other side of the bar.Then, a female bartender walks up to him.

    BARTENDERWhat will you have?

    JAKEGimme a whiskey.

    BARTENDERLet me see some I.D.

    Jake sighs slightly before going into his wallet. He showsher his card and she nods.

    BARTENDER (CONTD)Alright.

    She turns around to get his drink and Jake puts his walletback in his pocket. Suddenly, a brunette female sits down atthe bar, next to Jake.

    GIRLIll have a Coke, please.

    BARTENDERComing right up hun.

    She smiles and looks at Jake who is peering the other way.

    GIRLHey.

    Jake turns to face her.

    JAKEHi.

    GIRLMy names Jade.

    JAKEJake...

    Jade nods and grins.

    JADEYoure not from around here huh?

    JAKE

    How did you know that?(Defensive)

    JADEWell, all the men in this part ofOdyssey are dicks. You dont seemthe type.

    JAKEIll take that as a compliment, buthow can you tell? Weve just met.

    JADEHmm...you didnt say anythingrudely inappropriate after I saidthe D word. Thats a hint rightthere.

    Jake grins.

    We see two glass being set down on the bar in front of them.

    BARTENDERHere you are.

    JADE

    Thanks.

    They pick up their drinks and sip.

    JADE (CONTD)So...was I right?

    JAKEUh, yeah I guess Im not fromaround here.

    JADESee, I knew it. Why did you choose

    this bar?

    JAKEI dont know...It just called outto me.

    JADEWell, I cant say that Imcomplaining.

    JAKESame here.

    They smile and Jade pushes her hair back across hershoulders, revealing a beautiful ring, that holds a brightgreen emerald in the center, on her finger. Jake looks at it.

    JAKE (CONTD)Nice ring.

    JADEOh...thanks. Its a family thing.

    They smile at each other, and then suddenly we hear someonewhistling at Jade. She turns around to see a man likely to bedrunk, staring dead at her.

    DRUNK MANDamn. They sure do make them finenowadays.

    JADE sighs and turns back to Jake.

    JADEWhat an idiot.

    JAKEBack off!

    The man is silent, as he looks to Jake in shock. He walks upto the bar.

    DRUNK MANWhat did you just say to me?

    JAKEI said back off.

    JADECome on guys, lets just leave thisalone.

    DRUNK MANSHUT UP!

    He swings his hand toward Jades face, but Jake grabs itbefore it reaches her. Jade looks shocked.

    DRUNK MAN (CONTD)Let go of me!

    Jake squeezes his hand and he grunts.

    BARTENDERHey!

    Jake lets him go.

    BARTENDER (CONTD)Get out of my bar!

    The man backs away, staring at Jake. Then, he turns aroundand leaves. Jade looks at Jake.

    JADEYou didnt have to do that.

    JAKEYeah, I did.

    JADEWell..thank you. No one has everstood up for me before.

    Jake appears to be uncomfortable, and then his cell vibrates.He goes into his jacket pocket and takes it out. He looks

    down at the screen, and we see a text message with the oneword...CHECKMATE.

    JAKE (CONTD)Hey, I gotta get out of here.

    JADEOh...okay.

    (Disappointed)

    Jake turns to face the door.

    JADE (CONTD)

    Maybe well see each other again.

    Jake turns his head and grins slightly. He walks out of thedoor. On that we --

    CUT TO:

    EXT. ODYSSEY - BAR - BACK ALLEY - DAY.

    We follow Jake as he walks out of the bar. The door shuts andthen --

    BAM!

    Jake is hit in the back of the head with a pistol. He goesdown to the ground and we pull up from him to reveal thedrunken man.

    DRUNK MANWhat do you got to say now!? Huh?

    We cut to Jake, struggling to get up from the ground.

    BACK ON THE DRUNK, as he points his gun to Jakes face. ThenSuddenly --

    JADE (O.S.)HEY!

    The drunk gunman looks up and we jump to Jade, standing inthe door way. The man points the gun toward her, about topull the trigger when Jade balls her fist and aims it at him.

    Suddenly, her ring begins to produce a bright green beam thatshoots into him, sending him soaring unto the other side ofthe alleyway.

    Jade looks down at Jake. He looks up at her, stillstruggling. Then, his head falls to the ground as he looses

    his consciousness.

    BACK ON JADE as she breathes heavily, raises her hand andtouches her ring. On that we --

    CUT TO:

    INT. CHECKMATE - MEDICAL LAB - DAY.

    We come up on a pair of legs, covered by white slacks. Theytake a few steps forward and we begin to slowly pan upward.We reveal, Amanda Waller as she walks through Checkmates

    medical center. She walks up to the front desk where a female

    receptionist sits.

    AMANDAStuart Campbell?

    RECEPTIONISTMr. Campbell was just transferredthis morning. Room 25.

    AMANDA nods her head, then walks away from the desk.

    CUT TO:

    INT. CHECKMATE - MEDICAL CENTER - ROOM 25 - DAY.

    The door to the hospital room opens slowly, and in comesAmanda. She closes the door behind her and walks over to thebed.

    AMANDALook at what they did to you.

    WE CUT TO Stuart. He face is still badly bruised.

    BACK ON Waller.

    AMANDA (CONTD)You didnt deserve this.

    Amanda sits down in a chair next to the bed.

    AMANDA (CONTD)I came with good news. The projectyou found...Project Facultas.

    She pauses.

    Her face begins to harden.

    AMANDA (CONTD)Soon...Lana Lang, along with herfriends are going to feel the fulleffect of being an enemy toCheckmate.

    She touches his hand.

    AMANDA (CONTD)I promise you that...

    She lets go. Her expression is blank. She stands to her feetand walks toward the door. She opens it and walks out. Wefollow her as she walks through the hospital corridors.

    WE FADE INTO Cynthia and Quentin, inside Quentins car.Cynthia is driving while Quentin sits in the passengers seat.

    QUENTINYou know what surprises me?

    CYNTHIANo, what?

    QUENTINThose men, the ones that kidnappedyou. They havent come to take you

    back. I mean, they must know yourestaying with us. They knoweverything else.

    CYNTHIAI dont know. Maybe after meetingLana, they dont think Im the mostspecial girl in the world.

    QUENTINYou sound disappointed.

    CYNTHIA

    Trust me, Im not.

    Quentin grins.

    CYNTHIA (CONTD)Well, lets just be lucky thatthings have seemed to settle downon that front.

    QUENTINSounds good to me.

    CYNTHIAHey! Why are we doing this?

    QUENTINCynthia, its not gonna happenovernight. Going for walks, gettingfresh air...it doesnt really help

    me. When I try to think to myself,I keep picturing her face. Whatthose bastards might have done withher... I cant do it.

    Cynthia looks down, sadly, the back on the road.

    INT. OUTSKIRTS OF ODYSSEY - GREEN LANTERN CORPS - DAY.

    WE COME UP on a pair of closed eyes. The camera pans upwardto reveal JAKE, laying down on a white bed. Suddenly, hiseyes shoot open and he jolts up.

    He breathes heavily, looking around the room with confusedwritten on his face. We hear the sound of a door beingunlocked. Jake stares at the door knob, in shock. He cringesas the door is opened.

    We reveal JADE, walking into the room.

    JADEYoure up I see.

    JAKEWho the hell are you!? Where am I?

    Jake is angry and confused. He tries to move from his bed,but struggles. Jade rushes to him.

    JADEDont try to move too much.

    She reaches out for his arm but he jerks it away. She stopsand puts her hands in the air.

    JADE (CONTD)Hey...its alright. Im not here tohurt you.

    JAKEWho are you?

    JADEMy name is Jade. Dont youremember?

    Jake squints his eyes and we FLASH TO:

    INT. FLASHBACK - ODYSSEY - BAR - DAY.

    JADEHey.

    Jake turns to face her.

    JAKEHi.

    GIRLMy names Jade.

    We are BACK ON Jake, as he begins to remember her.

    JAKEJade...the girl from the bar...

    JADEThats right. What else can youremember?

    On Jakes face we --

    FLASH TO:

    EXT. FLASHBACK - ODYSSEY - BAR - BACK ALLEY - DAY.

    We follow Jake as he walks out of the bar. The door shuts andthen --

    BAM!

    Jake is hit in the back of the head with a pistol. He goesdown to the ground and we pull up from him to reveal thedrunken man.

    We cut to Jake, struggling to get up from the ground.

    INT. OUTSKIRTS OF ODYSSEY - GREEN LANTERN CORPS - DAY.

    JAKEI remember me getting hit in thehead. I can feel it now too...

    Jade nods.

    JAKE (CONTD)And then...you saved me. But how

    did you save me? What did you do tohim?

    JADEThis ring.

    Jade holds up her hand to reveal the ring on her finger.

    JADE (CONTD)Holds that power. The power of theGreen Lantern.

    JAKE

    Green Lantern...what is this place?

    JADEWere inside the Green LanternCorporation, one among many aroundthe world. Its my home.

    JAKEWhy did you bring me here?

    JADEYou were hit in the head prettybad. Knocked you clean out. When Ibrought you back here, I did a scanof the area you were attacked andfound something unexpected. Itseems like you had an electricalchip inside of you.

    Jake is shocked.

    was a behavior modification chip,meaning you werent 100 percent incontrol of yourself.

    JAKEI--I cant believe it.

    JADEWe werent able to remove itcompletely because it was plantedin the center of your brain stem.Removing it would have killed youalmost instantly. But, we were ableto disable it.

    JAKEWhatever this chip did...It made me

    loose my memory?

    JADEIm not sure. Your memory loss mayhave just been due to the impact ofthe blow to your brain. Might havehit the wrong circuit, and all wentto hell from there. Right now, itsonly temporary, you should get themback with time.

    JAKEThank you...for everything.

    JADEJust, dont make a big deal out ofit, okay?

    She grins.

    JADE (CONTD)In the mean time, you should getsome rest and you should probablystay here for a few days. Justuntil you feel youre ready to goback into the outside world.

    Jake nods, then Jade turns around. She opens the door thenlooks back at Jake.

    JADE (CONTD)Ill check it with you in a bit.

    She walks through the door, and closes it.

    Jade is walking down corridors of the Green Lantern Corp.Behind her are three security guards. She stops when she getsto the door to Jakes room, she turns and opens it. She steps

    into the room.

    She looks around, but sees no one. Shes confused, and theguards storm into the room. All of a sudden, Jake drops downfrom the above them, crashing on top of two guards.

    The last guard, prepares to attack but fails as Jake pusheshis hand toward him, creating a gust of wind. He goes soaringout the door and into the hallway. An alarm is sounded.

    Jake looks at Jade, who stands in front of him with her ringaimed at his face. Standing each other off, the pause for afew seconds.

    JADE (CONTD)Go! Quick before they find you!

    Jack grins, then runs out of the room. We see dozens ofguards rushing right behind him.

    He runs and runs until he gets the end of the hallway wherethere is a high window. He looks back and is almost shoot bya green ray of energy. He ducks out of the way and itshatters the glass from the window. He looks down out the

    window, then back again as the guards have almost reachedhim. He decides to jump.

    WE CUT TO the guards who have gotten to the window. Theypeers out to Jake pressing against the pavement lightly as hereaches it. We see a wave of wind as he touches the ground.
