September 2006

An appeal to all friends of Trinity,

Do you want to make it possible for a student to attend Trinity who otherwise could not?

Every dollar you contribute to the Father Kevin Caster Annual Fund Appeal is used to provide tuition assis-tance to families who qualify. Every dollar.

Families qualify for assistance by completing a detailed application that is verified by tax return information.Private School Aid Service based in Ohio uses a system of 26 metrics to determine the level of need. None of themetrics examine a student’s academic, athletic or activity involvement. The determination is based solely on thefamily’s ability to meet our tuition of $8,325.

Your gift to the Annual Fund helps us make tuition assistance available to these families.

Unfortunately, we were not able to meet the full level of “demonstrated need” for those who applied for assis-tance last spring. With an increase in donations to the Annual Fund we could meet more of the demonstratedneed.

Your gift truly assists a student to attend Trinity who otherwise could not.

With this fall issue of the Trinity Leader we are continuing the practice of presenting our Annual Report. Wehope this is an effective way of keeping you apprised of our stewardship of your gifts.

Donations to the school are made to the Trinity High School Foundation, Inc. Supported by a board of directorsnumbering more than 100 persons, the Foundation is a fully insured, 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. All giftsto the Foundation are tax-deductible. Its records are audited annually. Gifts made to Trinity stay with Trinity.

Please make a gift to the 2007 Father Kevin Caster Annual Fund Appeal.

All my best,

Robert J. Mullen ’77, Ed.D.President

Christian values in the Catholic tradition.

ometimes principals daydreamabout how to get out more goodnews about their schools. Forinstance, last year if I could havepublished a local newspaper or

magazine devoted to secondary education,as editor I’d be sure to push for theseTrinity headlines.

Trinity High School Graduates Largest Class in School HistoryOn May 21, Trinity High School gradu-ated its 50th class, comprising 368seniors. Commencement exercises tookplace at Knight’s Hall at BellarmineUniversity. Longtime Trinity volunteer, parent and supporter, Sean McGuire ’84,was presented the 2006 Trinity HonorAlumnus Award. Mount St. FrancisRetreat Center’s Mrs. Sharon TaliaferroSchaftlein was awarded the 2006 TrinityPeace Medal.

In addition, 10 honor graduates were recognized: Andrew Nicholas Assapimon-wait, Kevin James Floore, Peter JohnHayes, Anthony William Klausing,Joseph Tucker Mandlehr, KennethMartin Minogue, Robert Scott Mullen,Patrick Ryan Palmer, John AnthonyRuhl and Gregory Edward Shaw.

House System at Trinity Continues to Evolve and InfluenceHouse Director Joe Henning H’06 and Assistant Director JenniferBrowning hosted visits from as far away as Las Vegas this pastschool year even as they traveled to Atlanta to present at theNational Catholic Educational Association annual conference.More than a dozen schools have visited Trinity to learn moreabout our House System.

This year Trinity House directors and administrators visitedtwo schools to better understand their programs. As a result, thisyear Trinity’s House System introduced two advising periods intoevery school week to build and expand upon relationships withstudents from all grade levels through guided activities and dis-cussions on topics including decision-making, careers, communi-cation skills, problem-solving and conflict resolution.

Finally, this past year Trinity’s House leaders hosted their firstannual grade school leadership conference. Next year they plan tocontinue with grade school leadership but also invite students andadults from around the country to Trinity to trade ideas about their

House experiences.

Core Teams Solidify Program Identityand Facilitate Better CommunicationThis year Trinity High School’s teach-ers formed core teams which met regu-larly to plan coordinated units of studyand to discuss classroom strategies andcommon students. While Trinity haslong been commended for its work withgifted students and those with learningdifferences, like many schools, it hasworked to reach the majority of stu-dents “in the middle.” Core Teams ofHonors and Academic level teacherssucceeded in doing so this year by planning new cross-curricular units, field trips and recognitions. In addition

to certificates awarded to students throughout the year, at theSenior Awards Ceremony in May each program of studies alsonamed a “Student of the Year.”

ACT Scores Continue to Climb at Trinity High SchoolIn June, Trinity High School reported increases in every singlecategory for the ACT college placement test, continuing anupward trend which began four years ago. This remarkableimprovement now has Trinity’s overall composite score at 22.7with 100 percent of its graduating seniors reporting scores.(ACT’s latest national reported average for 2005 was 20.9, forKentucky 20.4.)

ike never before, unprecedented, unheard of, ominous, daunting.

I’m having those kinds of feel-ings at the beginning of this schoolyear. It became clear to me that so

much of what we at Trinity are faced with thesedays is truly unprecedented. There are so manynew and daunting challenges out there, and we

in Catholic education feel the brunt of them to such an extent that itmakes you wonder — even worry.

I see families living frantic lives of scurrying about with eachother in a whirlwind, dodging and weaving the pitfalls of ourworld and culture, hoping to survive somehow intact. Christianand familial values are hugely challenged.

For us to compete with all of the attractions our students see inour world is a daily, even hourly, contest for us. School sometimesseems the least attractive option.

Moral values have run amok in many instances with some lead-ers in our world compromising their political, business and per-sonal practices. No wonder, then, today’s students find disciplineand adherence to principles major obstacles to successful living.Teaching faculty in our school and others face personal challengesto their own creativity and people skills in the classroom everyhour of every day. Demands on them as professionals are at anunprecedented level.

Technological advances, while enhancing much of our lives, areeating us up, even threatening the existence of long-standing insti-tutions. Why bother with books and libraries any more? Make a

simple phone call and find out how much personal interaction inthe basic transactions of life is ceasing to be.

Not to mention the 9/lls, God-forbid more war conflict, the totalsurprises, the shocks, the tragedies, the cutting-edge newest-of-the-new that will surely boggle our minds and throw us all off-center again anytime.

Think about it enough and you’ll lose hope. Dwell on it and weall could become permanently depressed. You and I know we can-not live that way as faith-filled people.

Rather, we are able to live with an abundance of hope thesedays. As a Catholic Christian, as a priest in our Church, as an edu-cator in this Trinity High School community, I am only moreresolved to live out the permanent, abiding values that we sub-scribe to. Our rock-solid, bottom-line faith in a Trinity — God, fullof interactive, profound, redeeming love, permanently extended tous in every moment — sustains us in this community where char-ity and justice only build us up and make us stand taller every day.Seeing God’s love all around plus celebrating Eucharist togetheronly binds us more tightly and completely in the love of Jesus, hisFather/Parent and their Holy, Fiery Spirit.

Many centuries ago St. Augustine said, “See charity at work andyou see the Trinity.” I am renewed each day by what I see ener-gizing this school family.

Lively and motivated educators, cooperating and collaboratingstudents, abundant smiles and a clearly visible sense of purposeare around every corner here and our mission continues. I think weare safe, I think we are secure, I think we are on the right track, andI think our God is with us like never before.

an you hear me now?” …“Just Do It” … “I’mLovin’ It.” My guess isthat you may be familiarwith these slogans that

corporate America spends millions of dollarsa year trying to get you to identify with theirparticular product. It seems to work, as one of

my 6-year-old sons told me at dinner the other night that “in 15minutes or less I can save up to 15 percent on my car insurance.”I hope as he grows older he will share with me more importantmottos such as “Maximo Animi Ardore,” “Pride, Discipline,Loyalty, Achievement” or “Reflect the Rock,” the motto chosen byTrinity’s 50th graduating class, the Class of 2006.

As I reflect back on the Alumni Association’s past year’s accom-plishments, I’m proud to say our alumni have embraced the mottoadopted by the newest members of the Trinity Alumni Association. For your review, please find a list of some of the many accom-plishments of our Alumni Association during fiscal year 2005-06(July 1, 2005-June 30, 2006):■ Shamrock Awards Dinner — Students who qualify for the

Shamrock Award, National Honor Society members, Beta Clubinductees, National Merit semifinalists, Steinhauser Scholarsand Trinity Scholars were recognized at this dinner lastSeptember for their outstanding academic achievements.

■ Class Reunions — Members of the Classes of 1960, ’65, ’70, ’75,’80, ’85, ’90, ’95 and 2000 gathered to celebrate their reunions.

■ Shamrock Bass Classic — More than 90 boats participated inthis annual fishing tournament held the second Saturday in Mayand founded by Rev. Ron Domhoff H’98 and Joe Bryant ’75. Itwas a record year for both size and amount of fish caught.Congratulations to Eddie Joe Bratcher ’94 and Marty Martin forwinning the 2006 Bass Classic!

■ Sandy Newman Memorial Golf Classic — Accommodatingapproximately 300 golfers, this annual event was held June 3 atLong Run Golf Course. A special thanks to alums Moe ’60 andJoe ’68 Demling for their continued commitment to this event.

■ Shillelagh Cup — The Shillelagh Cup is modeled after thefamed Ryder Cup and matches members of the Trinity AlumniAssociation against our counterparts from St. Xavier. This event

was held the Monday of Pride Week last September and was agreat way for alumni to start the week’s activities. Congratu-lations to all members of the Rock Alumni Team for bringingthe Shillelagh Cup back home.

■ Trinity Hall of Fame Dinner — This annual event is sponsoredby our Alumni Association. Its purpose is to recognize theaccomplishments of those exceptional individuals who areacknowledged as leaders in their chosen field, have a record ofoutstanding stewardship to Trinity or have a history of distin-guished achievements as a Trinity student. The inductees for2005 were Steve Crump ’75, Rev. Ron Domhoff H’98, MikeGuetig ’72, R.W. “Buck” Marshall H’00, Dave Peege ’81 andGlynn Stengel ’67.

■ Senior Breakfast — Last May the 368 members of the Class of2006 were welcomed into our Alumni Association at this father-son breakfast. Our 50th graduating class was the largest inTrinity’s history, and we are proud to have them as part of ouralumni association.

Although this list highlights many of the more visible accom-plishments of our Alumni Association over the past year, countlesshours of stewardship have been given by members of our AlumniAssociation. A special thank you goes to members of our AlumniBoard of Directors who have been integral in providing the lead-ership and direction for our association. This board was chaired byJohn Hollenbach ’79 and, as his term as chair has ended, I cannotthank John enough for the leadership he has provided our 15-member board over the last two years.

Additionally, I know that John would be the first to defer anyrecognition to Travis Wagoner ’90, director of the annual fund andalumni relations. Travis is the glue that holds the Alumni Boardtogether, and his countless hours of hard work and dedicationoftentimes go unrecognized but certainly not unnoticed.

In closing, I’m honored to be part of our Alumni Board and for-tunate to work with so many committed Trinity alumni. I’m proudthat our alumni association has “Reflected the Rock” and encour-aged the newest members of our association to never forget thismotto while embracing the pledge of our alumni association:Time-Talent-Treasure.

Trinity Forever!

arine Sgt. David Wimberg, Trinity Class of1999, was one of us. But he was much morethan a Trinity alumnus.

He was a son, brother, friend and Marine. As a human being, he made the ultimate sac-

rifice: he gave his life for the lives of others. You hear the words “ultimate sacrifice” oftenof late. Sgt. Wimberg gave his life in the lineof duty, and in doing so, allowed others to live.

A Marine Corps squad leader, Wimberg waskilled in Hadithah, in western Iraq in May2005. For his sacrifice, Wimberg was awardedthe Silver Star posthumously. The award, thethird-highest behind the Medal of Honor andNavy Cross, was presented Aug. 20 at theNavy Marine Corps Reserve Center in Colum-bus, Ohio. Wimberg, 24, was a member of aMarine Reserve unit based in Columbus.

The Silver Star is awarded for valor in com-bat. The citation signed by Secretary of theNavy Donald Winter says that an enemyambush pinned down Wimberg and fellowMarines in the street. Wimberg left his covered position, “maneu-vered through intense small-arms fire and scaled a wall” to reachthe courtyard where the attackers were.

“Although twice driven back by high volumes of enemy fire, onhis third attempt, he opened the gate and allowed his squad toenter” the courtyard.

After two failed attempts to breach the front door of the housewhere the gunmen had holed up, “Sgt. Wimberg kicked in thedoor. … Finding himself face to face with four insurgents armedwith AK-47 rifles, Sgt. Wimberg engaged the enemy at close quar-ters, firing his M16-A4 rifle until he was shot and fell to the groundunconscious.”

His actions “created the momentum needed to break theambush. Many Marines’ lives were saved as a result of Sgt.Wimberg’s decisive and selfless actions,” the citation says.

Wimberg is buried in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in

Louisville. When news hit Trinity in late May 2005 that Sgt. Wimberg was

killed in action in Iraq, the emotions were felt in many circles farand wide.

No sooner had Trinity received the news than a phone call wasmade to Tim Culver ’82, executive director ofthe Trinity High School Foundation, from ananonymous donor who wanted to make sureDavid’s service to the country was remem-bered in a way that ultimately would helpTrinity students.

Plans already were in motion to develop amemorial scholarship, and this donor wanted itto be a significant one.

“Remember when you came to me threeyears ago to help with the Spirit of Trinitycampaign?” the voice on the other end askedCulver. “I told you then that I would like to dosomething for the endowment but just nevergot around to acting upon it. I guess every-thing happens for a reason and, as unfortunateas it is, David’s death has prompted me to do

something now.”With that, a pledge of $25,000 was made to the Sgt. David Neil

Wimberg ’99 Memorial Scholarship. It hadn’t been since the Vietnam War that a Trinity alumnus had

been killed in the line of duty and, with the high profile of the con-flict in Iraq, the response to the tragedy has been overwhelming.More than $48,500 in cash gifts has been pledged to the scholarshipthus far. Among those contributing to the scholarship was the sixth-grade class of St. Barnabas School, where David’s mother, Tricia, teaches. A collection among the students raised more than $300.

“This is a great way to create a long-lasting legacy in honorof David,” said Trinity President Dr. Rob Mullen ’77. “He madethe ultimate sacrifice, and there’s not a better way to recognizesuch valor.”

To make a pledge to the scholarship or for more information, contact Tim Culver at (502) 736-2100 or [email protected].

bout 100 friends of Trinity gathered on April 23to bless and dedicate a memorial window to thefour Trinity graduates who gave their lives whileserving our country in Vietnam. The event wasmoving and emotional for all who gathered.

Thomas C. Hafendorfer ’58, Joseph B. Horsman ’67, William P.Milliner ’68 and Victor H. Van Vactor ’65 served in the military inVietnam, as did many Trinityalumni. These four men wereeither killed in action or arelisted as missing in action.

The artistic team responsiblefor the creation of the windowcomprised Dave Kelly, formerTrinity faculty; Michael Price’66, Trinity director of informa-tion technology; Dr. DavidHazelip H’96, Trinity’s secondprincipal; and Craig Kaviar, owner of Kaviar Forge.

It was Dr. Hazelip’s drive, vision and passion that made thismemorial a reality. He broughtthe idea for the memorial tothen-Trinity president PeterFlaig H’00, who enthusiastically supported the idea. Kelly, founder of Trinity’s Counseling Department, helped in the projectby researching which alumni were killed or are missing in action.Price assisted in the final design and installation of the memorial.

The memorial contains several important elements. First, Dr.Hazelip created a beautiful stained glass window modeled afterthose in our Chapel. His creation has the same flow and design ofthe original windows but with a slightly different color scheme.

Second, the window is set in a one-of-a-kind iron frame situatedin a southeastern-facing window of the W. Peter Flaig LibraryMedia Center. Dr. Hazelip and Flaig chose this location so the morn-ing sunlight could illuminate the window each day. The windowseems to float in the air as it is held by Kaviar’s piece. As the win-dow sits in its frame, it appears that branches from a tree in AlumniCourtyard extend from the outside into the space. It is very striking.

Third, a granite plaque hangs next to the window, listing thenames of the four alumni. Those who have been to the VietnamMemorial in Washington, D.C., will see the similarities between

the two plaques.Trinity Chaplain Rev. Dave Zettel ’58 concelebrated Mass

with Rev. Robert Osborne, A former Trinity faculty member andretired pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Family membersof the four alumni and former faculty served as readers, giftbearers and Eucharistic ministers. Father Zettel’s homilyfocused on the Gospel reading of the second Sunday in Easter,

that of doubting Thomas.Following the Mass, attendees

moved to the W. Peter FlaigLibrary Media Center for thededication of the window. Dr.Hazelip gave an address andrepresentatives of each alumnusspoke. Father Zettel read theblessing, lighted incense andblessed the window with HolyWater. A reception was held fol-lowing the blessing ceremony.

“The comments made by thefamily representatives weretouching beyond description,”Trini ty President Dr. RobMullen ’77 said. “It is evidentthat this gesture on the part of

Trinity was appreciated. It is also very evident that the loss of theirloved ones is still very much with them. It underlined for me thesacrifice made by these brother alumni and the burden that hasbeen borne by their families.”

Former faculty and staff members in attendance included PaulDavin, Evelyn Fultz H’93, Bill Gorman, Mike Hamilton H’96,Tony Heitzman, Ron Holzknecht, Bob Hublar H’02, John Hughesand W.C. Sergeant. Current faculty members like Jim Connell ’63and Tom Rueff ’66 attended as well. Alumni like Dr. Joe Babey’58, Jack Guthrie ’58, Bob Heleringer ’69, Gregg Vittitoe ’68,John Weiler ’68 and Col. John Wigginton ’68 and were present. The event was coordinated by Joey Porter ’78, vice president forschool advancement, and Travis Wagoner ’90, director of theannual fund and alumni relations.

Visitors who wish to see the memorial are welcome to arriveat the rotunda at any time during the school day. Someone fromthe Office for School Advancement will be happy to escort youto the library.

CROSS COUNTRYExpectations are high for the 2006 Trinity Harriers. Over the sum-mer the selection committee of the Nike Team Nationals sent asurvey to the Rocks with expectations that the team will be a top10 team in the Southeast. Also, the McDonald’s Cross CountryFestival at Maymont College actively recruited Trinity to partici-pate in its nationally recognized and prestigious high school invi-tation-only race by paying for the school’s expenses.

The past two years the Runnin’ Rocks have finished a close run-ner-up at the state meet. This year’s squad, led by seniors SeanDarrow, Bryan Henn, Thomas Noel and Ethan Short, plan on lead-ing the state. The seniors, all preseason top-15 runners in ClassAAA, will get valuable help from junior John Sturgeon and sopho-mores Greg Biddle, Dane Flinchum and Brian Hancock, who willbe competing for the scoring top five on the roster.

“We’re expecting great things from this team,” head coach ChadWaggoner said. “They’re a talented group.”

Rival St. Xavier is the greatest competition for Trinity’s 17thstate title. Woodford County and Daviess County also will be statemeet contenders.

FOOTBALLThe Football Rocks look to defend their Class 4-A state title.

“We are cautiously optimistic as a football program about theprospects for the 2006 season,” offensive coordinator AndrewCoverdale said. “Our optimism is based on the response we’veseen so far to the off-season demands by our players, their workethic and by the return of a number of players who have been partof varsity success. That said, we expect a very tough road, begin-ning with several difficult early tests on the schedule that willquickly give us a good idea where we stand. We are also inexpe-rienced in a number of key positions and will have to growquickly in order to be a top-flight team.”

Defensive players to watch include seniors Brian Hart andAgyei Williams in the secondary, junior Wes Weitlauf at line-backer and senior Luke McDermott up front. On the offensiveside of the ball, key players include senior wide receiver KyleFlynn, senior tight end and receiver Nick Melillo, senior quarter-back Nick Petrino and a trio of linemen — seniors Reid Hall andDane Spoelker and junior Sam Robey.

District competition will be stiff with strong challenges

FALL SPORTS PREVIEWfrom Ballard, Fern Creek and Shelby County. Favorites for theClass 4-A title are Trinity, Male, John Hardin (Elizabethtown)and St. Xavier.

The Shamrocks were No. 27 in the School Sports Power 50preseason national high school football rankings. Trinity, 13-2last season, is the lone Kentucky team in the top 50. TheShamrocks were No. 6 in the Midwest, and Male was No. 16.

In the Student Sports preseason Fab 50’s Midwest rankings,Trinity was No. 14 and St. Xavier was No. 16.

GOLFLast year the Golf Rocks had one of their most consistent teams inschool history. Of the 10 tournaments the team played in, Trinityfinished in the top three in seven of them. They also won theKentucky Invitational Tournament and their first Region Seventournament since 1990.

With the experience, skill and leadership of returning seniorsJames Chaney, Daniel Kmetz and Mike Woods, the Rocks look tohave a great year.

“Our guys at the top will make us strong and consistent this sea-son,” head golf coach Joe Frederick ’88 said. “They are our key.Daniel (Kmetz) shot a 73 at last year’s regional tournament, whichwas the low score. Also, our juniors can give us a lot of help.”

“I’d have to say the favorites for state this year are St. Mary’s(Paducah) and Bowling Green,” Frederick added. “St. Mary’s wonit last year, and both teams return most of the same players andexperience.”

SOCCERThe 2006 Soccer Rocks look to have a promising season. Despitelosing some talented seniors to graduation, Trinity returns experi-ence and depth on the field.

“I’m very much looking forward to seeing how our young play-ers gel with our returning starters,” head soccer coach GregoryMoss-Brown said. “By the looks of things at practice so far, they’re doing that.”

Seniors T.J. Fox and Sam Scales captain the team. Senior BruceTurner also returns and is hungry for a starting spot.

The Shamrocks’ schedule features tough matches with duPontManual, Male, St. Xavier, South Oldham, Lexington Catholic andLexington Paul Dunbar.

REV. THOMAS DUERR LEGACY SOCIETYRev. Tom Duerr H’92 made an indelible mark on Trinity HighSchool. His 30 years of service as teacher and principal helped pro-pel Trinity from a fledgling young school into the powerhouse wesee today. Most remarkable was his pastoral care for all students. A wide variety of initiatives were begun during his time as princi-pal: the senior retreat program; the community service program;programs for students with learning differences; and new ways toassist students struggling with chemical dependency problems.

The Rev. Thomas A. Duerr Legacy Society recognizes individu-als who have made a commitment to include Trinity in their estateplanning. It simultaneously honors Father Duerr for his service.Father Duerr himself included Trinity in his estate planning.

What is the Father Kevin Caster Annual Fund Appeal? The Father Kevin Caster Annual Fund Appeal is the cornerstone fund-raising tool we have to offset the actual per-student cost. Tuition for2006-07 is $8,325; the actual cost to educate a student is more than$10,000. Your contribution helps keep tuition more affordable.

What are Annual Fund contributions used for?One thing and one thing only: tuition assistance. More than 40 percentof our students receive tuition assistance.

How valuable is your contribution?Priceless — regardless of the amount. Please help the students of todaybecome the next brother alumni.

When does the Annual Fund Appeal begin and end?Trinity operates on a fiscal year running from July 1 of one yearthrough June 30 of the next. In other words, the 2007 Annual FundAppeal began July 1, 2006 and will end June 30, 2007.

What does that mean if you made a contribution before June 30, 2006?All Annual Fund gifts received prior to June 30, 2006 were credited tothe 2006 Annual Fund Appeal.

Will there be an Annual Fund Appeal every year?Yes. The Annual Fund Appeal was initiated in 1991. It is the most successful and widely used method for private high schools and uni-versities to raise funds for tuition assistance.

Why is tuition so much more than years ago?If you were a Trinity student during the 1950s or ’60s, you were likelytaught by a priest. In those days there were many priests on the faculty, and almost all of them lived on campus.

Today, Trinity’s qualified faculty numbers more than 100 lay people.Trinity must pay a competitive wage to attract top-quality teachers.

How is tuition used?Nearly 80 cents of every tuition dollar is used to pay salaries and providebenefits such as health insurance, which has increased dramatically.Paying a competitive wage, attracting qualified faculty and providing on-going professional development drive costs upward.

How does Trinity raise money for its educational experience? We have four methods of funding our efforts:

1. Tuition (annual) – Nearly 80 percent of our revenue is spent onemployee compensation. Tuition will not decrease; it will increaseapproximately $300 to $500 per year. 2. Father Kevin Caster Annual Fund Appeal (annual) – The AnnualFund Appeal funds all tuition assistance programs. Memorial andendowed scholarships are part of the Annual Fund Appeal.3. celebraTion (annual) – Formerly known as the Benefit Dinner, celebraTion funds Trinity Athletics and Trinity Student Activities(drama, intramural sports, Chess Club, Speech Team, etc.).4. Capital Campaigns (as needed) – Since 1998, Trinity has success-fully implemented two capital campaigns: the Shamrock SpiritCampaign (1998) and the Spirit of Trinity Campaign (2003). Capitalcampaigns provide funds for building and facilities construction, campusimprovements and adding to the school’s endowment.

A N N U A L F U N D G I F T L E V E L STrinity gratefully acknowledges the support we receive from ouralumni, parents and past parents, faculty, staff, friends, corporationsand foundations for the advancement of our educational mission. As away to honor our donors for gifts made to the Annual Fund, we haveestablished the following gift levels.

1953 SOCIETY – In salute to the year of our founding and firstfreshman class, this level of commitment demonstrates the same spiritof adventure and trust present in those early years. A gift of $1,000 ormore places contributors in this society.

PRESIDENT’S SOCIETY – Trinity has been blessed with strongleaders since its inception. Contributors at this level show their ownsignificant leadership. Gifts of $500-$999 comprise this level.

TRINITY LEADER SOCIETY – Named in recognition of theleadership role that Trinity alumni are now playing in this communityand elsewhere. Those who contribute $250-$499 qualify for this level.

TRINITY SHAMROCK CLUB – The shamrock has come tobe known as symbolic of a school committed to achievement.Likewise, donors of gifts between $100 and $249 remain steadfast intheir belief that Trinity is moving forward.

GREEN AND WHITE CLUB – Our alma mater states ...“Loyalto the Green and White.” Many faithful supporters have proudly wornthese school colors. Participants at this level remain confident of Trinity’sfuture. Gifts of $50-$99 place one in this category.

ROD McCRAVY CLUB – Named for a 1986 graduate of Trinity,Rod was known for his love of life. Tragically, he died of a heart defectin his second year of college. He typified the spirit of enthusiasm, excitement and determination hoped for in every Trinity graduate.Gifts up to $49 qualify donors for this level.

If I make a contribution now will I receive a phone call during theSpring Phonathon? No.

Can I fulfill my pledge in installments?Yes. Please see the enclosed Annual Fund Appeal envelope for details.

Why should you make a contribution?Give to give back. A Trinity education goes above and beyond a highschool education, and you know it. Trinity provides a spiritual founda-tion and support. Trinity provides championship-level athletics. Trinityprovides a priceless academic experience. Trinity shapes the heads andhearts of all who attend here.

Think about your life without a Trinity education. There are manyyoung men in Kentuckiana who want that same experience but simplydo not have the financial means to attend Trinity. Please help thembecome the next Trinity legacy and brother alumni.

The Trinity High School Annual Report is a publication of Trinity High School, 4011 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40207. In producing the donor and volunteer listings, we worked hard to correct all errors. Please contact the Office forSchool Advancement at (502) 893-7625 to report any errors. Trinity High School wishesto express deep appreciation to the many individuals who made this report possible.
