The beginning of our 150th anniversaryyear is only two months away. We areanticipating a joyful celebrationthroughout the whole year of 2017. Infact, we are designating our celebration"A Jubilee of Joy". The theme passagefrom Scripture will be Psalm 100, whereverse 1 says,

And verse 5 says,

The first thing one sees isthe word JUBILEE. In theOld Testament a Jubileewas celebrated every 50years. It was a time whenthe grace and mercy ofGod was made known bythe forgiveness of debtand the release of thoseheld captive. This is our3rd Jubilee and a time tocelebrate the grace andmercy of God. The overallshape of this symbol is thecross, which is the source of all theblessings of God. These blessings arerepresented in the words that have to dowith God's gifts to us in Christ peace,liberty, faith, grace, freedom, mercy,hope, forgiveness, redemption and joy.Such blessings are God's gift to Hispeople flowing from the cross. Recipientsof these blessings are designated by thewords believers, community, family, andchurch. With Christ as our Savior, we arebound together by our common salvation.Therefore, in our Jubilee we desire toexpress our gratitude to God for His giftsand for our unity in the faith. This we willdo in expressions of thanksgiving,represented by the words alleluia,celebration and worship. Verse 4 of Psalm100 says,

In 150 years God has been good andgracious to the people of Trinity. Everyweek, the message of Christ crucified hasbeen proclaimed from the pulpit and thebody and blood of Christ has beendistributed at the altar for the forgivenessof sins. Over the years thousands haveentered the kingdom of grace through thewaters of baptism and into the kingdomof glory through death in Christ.Countless young people have been

confirmed in theChristian faith andjoined in one ashusband and wifebefore the altar.Thousands of studentshave been educated inour school and Sundayschool and served theLord and our neighborin youth ministry.Through the faithfulstewardship of God'speople, a beautifulchurch and school were

constructed, properties were purchasedand developed and our busy campus hasbeen maintained. In the communitythousands have been blessed through thegenerosity and love of our people wholive their lives in faithfulness to theircalling as Christians.

We truly have reason to celebrate ourthird Jubilee. God has been faithful andgood through the years and promises tobe so also into the future. I invite you tojoin in the celebration, as does verses 2and 3 of our Psalm,

A Jubilee of joy, indeed!

FOOD DRIVE TO SUPPORTTRINITY'S MEAL MINISTRY!

Trinity's Thanksgiving Food Drive 2016Currently, Trinity is serving meals to the hungry in ourcommunity through the Soup Kitchen and CommunityDinner. Because of the generosity of our congregation,an average of 400 people in our area receives a hot

nutritious meal each month.

Much of the food we serve is purchased at Gordon'sFood Service or the Feeding America Food Bank. If youwould like to donate here are some suggestions: anylarge 10# cans of any kind of fruit, vegetables, chilibeans or pickles, (available at Gordon's or Martins).

We also need large portions of rice, noodles,spaghetti, instant potatoes, french fried onions, chips,

and stuffing mix. We can also use "GFS" gift cardswhich allows us to purchase the fresh items needed.

Please bring your food offerings to Trinity and placethem in either the church office or the Welcome

Center until Thanksgiving Eve. At our Thanksgiving Eveservice, we will display your gifts on the altar and ask

for the Lord's blessings on Trinity's Meal Ministry.

Life Development Classes for Fall 2016 continued from page 4

For years we have used a funeral pall to cover thecasket that is being brought into the church. Now,through a thoughtful donation, we have available forour use a pall that covers the urn containing thecremains of one who has entered into glory. Both ofthese palls are white coverings with a prominent crossin the center, carrying great symbolism and the finalconfession of faith being made by a child of God.In the baptismal rite the newly baptized is invited to jointhe faithful in "proclaiming the praises of Him whocalled us out of darkness, into His marvelous light."From the day of his or her new birth of water and theSpirit until they reach their home in heaven, thebeliever is to confess Christ, their Savior from sin anddeath and the hope of all the earth. One way thatChrist is confessed is with the white baptismal gown.This white gown represent the holiness that comes fromsins forgiven and the robe of Christ's righteousnessgiven in baptism. Galatians 3:27 says, "For as many ofyou as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ."Isaiah also speaks about the robe of righteousness (Is.61:10), which we receive from our Savior. The whiterobe at baptism symbolized this righteousness of Christ.

The same symbolism isseen in the book ofRevelation where thosestanding before God aredressed in white robes(Rev. 7:13). They aredescribed as, "the onescoming out of the greattribulation. They havewashed their robes andmade them white in the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 7:14)." Inaddition to having a funeral or memorial service in God'shouse, with hymns and prayers, Scripture and sermon, theone being buried will often have a casket or urn draped in awhite cloth with a cross embroidered on the center. As theirnew life in Christ began in baptism with a white gown, theirfinal departure from this life is while draped with the whitepall; both symbolizing the robe of Christ's righteousness,earned on the cross.If you wish to use the pall for the casket or the urn in yourfuneral service please let the pastor or the church office knowwhen preparations are being made.

As people of GOD, He encourages us to practicegiving thanks at all times. And we need to continually pointour hearts and the hearts of our family to the LORD.Someone told me that the word "grace" could be defined as"delightful kindness." That is a beautiful picture of how ourLORD deals with us. Continue to remind yourself and yourfamily of the grace of our GOD; He delights to be kind tous. Let's all of us remember to give thanks to His holy name,for His goodness and loving kindness.~

Thankful! It s a very popular word this time of year . We are thankfulfor many things and we spend a lot of time in November thinkingabout what and who we are thankful for. Our children write it onturkey feathers. We may post it on social media. As Christians, weeven pray about our blessings and what we are thankful for duringthis season, maybe more than any other. This season is very busy forthe Early Childhood Center, but we are Thankful that we can be busy.We are thankful for our hardworking staff. They plan activities, go onfield trips and put their whole heart into taking care of the children atour Center. We are thankful for our families who have trusted us withtheir most precious gifts, their children. We are thankful for thechildren who brighten our day, make us smile and encourage us tocome to work each and every day. We are thankful for our co-workerswho support us, up lift us and help us in our times of need. We arethankful for the congregation members at Trinity who also support,uplift and encourage us in our vocations. We are especially thankfulfor the prayers. We are thankful that God has blessed us with all ofthese things and more. So as you sit around your tables thisThanksgiving, remembering your blessings, please remember theblessing that is Trinity s Early Childhood Center and the lives wetouch each and every day. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

Both the children and the leaders are reallydigging into the life of Jesus. Each week welearn characteristic of Jesus such as Nothing isImpossible for Jesus! Jesus is our Light! Jesus isour King! The children love to praise God withthe new songs they are learning. I have tothank Stacy Gerber for all her hard work intransforming the program. Prayers of YieldingIn the parable of the sower and the seed, Jesus describes and explains four differentresponses to the "word of the kingdom."

18 "Hear then the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdomand does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown inhis heart. This is what was sown along the path. 20 As for what was sown on rockyground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, 21 yet hehas no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution ariseson account of the word, immediately he falls away.[b] 22 As for what was sown amongthorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulnessof riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 23 As for what was sown on good soil,this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, inone case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty."

It is so easy to get wrapped up in the momentary aspects of life on this earth. We arelulled into a sleepy monotony that blots out the reality of the eternal and our role intaking others with us to that eternity in the presence of our Lord--the fruit Jesus mentions.Sometimes, when struggle or tragedy come, it is during our darkest hours and mostbroken spirits that we have the clearest perspective on the eternally important. It seems totake that for many of us to get a vision of something beyond our daily life and concerns -the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches.

In his book, Mere Christianity, C. S. Lewis said it this way:"If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present worldwere precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largelyceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this."

In Philippians 3, Paul exhorts his readers to seek the eternal focus as mature believersand that, if we are immaturely focused, God will reveal that to us. Later in Philippians 4,Paul says the familiar words, " 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I havelearned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and Iknow how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facingplenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him whostrengthens me." In Galatians 2:20, Paul further says, "I have been crucified with Christ. Itis no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I liveby faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." It isn't about what weface, it is about Who faces it with us and His heavenward goals for us, whether in plentyor need, in joy or in sorrow.

Ultimately, our lives here are not about the temporary; we need to ask what differencewhat we pray for will make in a hundred years. We need to ask the Lord to reveal whereour focus is and to yield our wills to His for the producing of fruit that will matter intoeternity!

The Sleeping Mat Ministry is looking for volunteers to assist in cutting the plastic bags, assembling thebags into plarn (plastic yarn), and crocheting the plarn into the mats. Once a mat is completed they willbe distributed into our community to the homeless. This is something that can be done at home or youare invited to come to the plarn group which meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 2:00-4:00 in the Lighthouse Cafe . This verse begins with a connection you don't commonly see – the cross showing us God'swisdom. In my experience, at least, the cross is usually used as an example of God's love.I'm sure that the writer did not intend to deny God's love, but how can God's wisdom applyto the crucifixion?

One explanation might be that God does not view pain and suffering the way we do. Formankind pain and suffering are experiences that are best avoided at all cost. Most peoplewould go to any length just to escape the agony they bring because we seem condemnedto seeing existence with reading lenses. With such lenses pain and suffering become somagnified that they push everything else in the landscape out of our view. Thankfully, Godsees things differently.

God sees us and the world exactly as we are – helplessly bound by sin. However, Hisdivine sight includes the much broader landscape that includes our redemption, and in Hiswisdom He has planned a way for those who know His love through His promises to enjoyits benefits. Yes, it meant for His son to suffer horribly and die miserably on the cross, butHe and He alone was wise enough to know that it was the only way creation could berestored.

So the cross not only broadcasts to the world God's love, but also His wisdom in seeingboth man's problem and the problem's solution. With His "conquering might" He has putsin, death, and the devil in their rightful place.

And all three elements together, beaming from the cross, make for the "bright redeeminglight" that comes at the end of the verse.
