Welcome to an adventure in faith. Those words are not
imbedded within the “Invitation to a Holy Lent” given
to the congregation in our Ash Wednesday liturgy. Yet,
I wish they were part of the instructions because they
might change the way we approach Lent.
When the disciples dropped everything including jobs
and family commitments to follow Jesus, when cate-
chumens in the early church studied, fasted, and prayed
for a year leading up to baptism on the eve of Easter
celebrations, when pilgrims made their way to desert
monasteries for repentance and retreat; all went to such
great lengths with an exuberant and robust sense of ad-
venture. They lived a faith excited to see what God had
in store for them and a willingness to risk comfort and
status for a journey with God.
Lent at Trinity is filled with offerings focused on the
theme of healing and health. Where might God want to
lead you to healing and health this Lent? And are you
willing to take a risk and step into a Lenten exploration
of those themes and see what God has planned for your
life? On Ash Wednesday as you are invited to enter a
holy Lent, know that you are also invited to forty days
of exploration, discovery, and adventure.
Grace and peace,
Trinity hosted a very successful coffee house on Feb. 2
featuring Adler & Hearne in concert with special open-
ing act Kate Hearne. Lynn Adler and Lindy Hearne
wowed the crowd with their unique genre of “Folk-Jazz-
Bluegrass-Certified Organic” music. Photos by Lefty

Looking back.
Looking ahead.

A Prayer for Trinity Episcopal Church
Almighty and everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven
and light of the world, hear our prayers for this parish family.
Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the peni-
tent. Help us to see your church, our lives, and your world through
the light of your love. Inspire our thinking, guide our actions,
grant us all things necessary for our common life, and teach us to
be your light to each other, our community, and the world. Bring
us to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
