    Invitation Sunday on March 24th

Here at Trinity, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming

congregation, with doors and hearts open to everyone in

the community, regardless of income level, religious

background, sexual identity, physical abilities, ethnicity

or political belief. From Sunday mornings through our

Wolfe Concert Series through our ministries with

Common Ground and I Can, we faithfully live up to these

values of hospitality. Those who come through the doors of Trinity know that they are

welcome and valued as children of God.

One area we can challenge ourselves to grow is in our invitation for people to come

through our doors in the first place. Trinity has something wonderful to offer our

neighbors: God’s Word of grace; powerful music; programs for all ages; respectful

dialog about the issues of our day; opportunities to serve and be served; a rich history

of faith; meaningful friendships; and so much more. But without an invitation from

someone who’s here, most people will never experience the blessings we have to share.

All the newspaper ads and social media posts in the world cannot compare to one

invitation from someone who cares about you.

On March 24, we challenge every member of Trinity to invite a friend or family

member to join you for church. Meet them here or pick them up; maybe take them to

lunch afterwards. Talk to them about why Trinity matters to you.

That Sunday, we’ll have information about upcoming concerts, special events and

Holy Week celebrations. We’ll also share pretzel balls with nine different dipping

sauces (on the portico, weather permitting).

Of course, every day is a good day to invite a friend to Trinity, but let’s all try to do it

together on March 24. Your friends will be glad you asked!

    Music and Outreach

Wolfe Concert Series to Foster Community Partnerships

For many years, the Rändel L. Wolfe Memorial Concert Series has

provided the gift of music to our community. We are excited to expand

that outreach by partnering with various community organizations this

year so that our musical offerings can also provide tangible support for community

organizations that have an impact for good in Reading and Berks County.

The partners we have invited will receive 100% of proceeds from concert offerings and

will have an opportunity to bring greetings and provide information about the work

they do. They will help promote the concerts through their own networks, expanding

the reach of our ministry and highlighting Trinity’s commitment to our community.

As members of Trinity, your patronage of the Series is vitally important, so that we can

continue to bring in excellent musicians, even as we distribute offerings to our

partners. (A patron form follows.) Furthermore, your presence and financial support

at each concert will speak volumes about Trinity’s connection with these wonderful

community resources. These are the kinds of partnerships we dreamed about in our

discernment process last year and we thank you for doing what you can to support

    this important outreach initiative.

All patron gifts received by March 17 will be listed in all 2019 concert programs.

Please make checks payable to Trinity Lutheran Church; Memo line: Wolfe Concert

Series. Checks may be placed in the offering plate or sent to the church office.

    Mission & Service

    Lenten Water Project

Someone came to me some time ago and asked, “Could we do a

water project sometime?” My answer was “YES”! The Mission

& Service Committee approved the project and we are ready

    now.

Thank you again for your faithful response to last year’s project—a cow. As you

remember, the response was so great that we bought several cows, other animals and

    other projects.

In our ELCA Good Gifts Catalog, water wells begin at $2,500.00. Cost depends on the

location and cost of materials. Clean water is one of the biggest challenges for

overcoming poverty. Can you imagine not being able to go to your sink and get a

    glass of fresh water?

This month, we will be presenting our challenge to you as a congregation. Be on the

    “lookout” for the Cowabunga gang!

—Marian Jameson, Mission & Service Committee Chair

    Bags of Blessings

Pick up a grocery bag at church this morning and bring it back

next week filled with non-perishable food for the nearby Lutheran

Pantry at St. John’s Church. Once again, the pantry welcomes your gifts of oatmeal

(traditional or quick-cooking; no instant oatmeal, please). Thank you for sharing gifts

with our neighbors in the city of Reading!

Hour at the Exeter library)? Come with your questions, experiences and insights.

March 17 – An Interfaith Journey to the Holy Land: Helen and Tom Flynn will speak
