Trinity Sunday Greetings, God in intimate relationship… God part of family… God models for us how to be in relationship with the other. It would be wonderful if we could claim we are deeply in love with everyone, as God is, but in our human condition we make judgments and withhold or withdraw from relationships. The church teaches that everyone is our brother or sister even when they are out of sync with us and/or the church’s teachings. The Trinity is a hard concept to wrap our minds around. We need time to reflect and contemplate how God can be three persons in one. We need time to contemplate many things that go on around us and at times we feel so rushed that we just vegetate when we take a break or we let a “mind trap” like video games, the TV, or the internet take up our time and empty our minds. At a seminar I attended, the speaker Mr. Doug Bushmann, suggested that we train our parishioners and all Catholics to spend time in silence. He went on to say silence is where we can meet Jesus in our heart or conscience. We need to learn how to be attentive to the voice of God. Doug also suggested that the use of conscience in our American society is weak. We need to reflect on our day, our relationships, and our lives in order to help see where we have done well and where we may need to change ourselves to be a more loving person. A well formed conscience is one where God comes first. Here is a simple question: before you go to bed at night… do you spend anytime reviewing the day? Do you ask God to forgive you for wrongs you have committed or times when you failed to act as God would have? Do you thank God for the blessings of the day, the people you talked with, the messages you received? I am challenging you to try a period of silence each day. It may mean you have to lock yourself in the bathroom for 10 minutes. But time alone with God and silence can be very revealing. I want to draw your attention again to the few moments of silence after communion while Deacon, Fr Don, or I purify the vessels, this is a great time to talk with Jesus, look over your day, and contemplate a heavy moment. After all you have Jesus in you in a special way, take advantage of it. Here are some questions you may want to take to a period of silence and contemplate… Have you ever contemplated the meaning of your life? Why did God place you here? What is He asking you to do? What gifts has He given you? If you do not ask the questions of life and contemplate them then the answer that religion provides is not understandable. Silence is more than a wishful thought… it is a blessing that contains God’s graces… I was contemplating another trinity in our lives Dad, Mom, and the kids… On this day we wish all fathers, godfathers, adoptive fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers fathers in law… mentors a very blessed day! May God reward you for the good that you do! Blessings on your day! Wishing you a moment of silence! Fr Chuck

Trinity Sunday Greetings,

God in intimate relationship… God part of family… God models for us how to be in relationship with the other.

Fr Chuck

At this time we know there will not be any issues of the OND published during the month of June. It is our ardent hope that we can meet our target to publish a July edition (Note: the OND traditionally publishes only one edition in the months of July and December). As of July 1st, Janelle Gergen will be serving as associate editor of the paper and will be the contact person for contact and publication issues. Her email, effective July 1st, will be: [email protected]. Thank you for your patience during this transition.

COLLECTION FOR RETIRED PRIESTS

The Collection for Retired Priests is a wonderful opportunity to thank our retired priests for their lifetimes of devotion. This collection assists with their healthcare insurance costs and their other needs. Please give generously to the Diocese of Crookston’s Collection for Retired Priests.

If you have missed your opportunity to donate through today’s second collection, you can still give your gift by going online at www.crookston.org/CRP or contacting the office of Stewardship & Development, toll free at 1-855-397-8292. Thank you!
