"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas." Well, it soon will be. By the time you read
this, the church should be all decorated for Christmas, yet it just doesn't seem like it should
be here. The choir is well into practice on Christmas music, and the handbells are getting
ready as well. We go straight from Thanksgiving into Advent with the first Sunday of
Advent being on what many consider Thanksgiving weekend. Each Sunday in Advent there
will be special music and a special Advent reading to go with the lighting of the Advent wreath candles. The first
Sunday the choir is singing a new anthem that has wonderful words to go along with beautiful music. We will have
a French horn playing along with us. The second Sunday the handbells will play, and the third Sunday, the 15th,
will be the Christmas cantata. This year we are doing "The Living Creche," and the choir singing will be
accompanied by the youth and children as the many characters of Christmas. Please make plans to see this at either
the 8:30 am or 11:00 am service. With an orchestra playing with us, this should be wonderful, and you will hear
many Christmas carols. Christmas Eve will be here before we know it, and there will be four services, starting at
4:30 pm with a traditional and Encounter service. Both of these will start with beautiful prelude music as always.
Then there will be another traditional service at 7:30 pm and the candlelight service at 11:00 pm. If you desire, you
could attend three totally different services that evening. Just plan to be there, so you don't miss the joy of Christ-
mas Eve. There is a lot going, on and as fast as this year has gone, it will be over before we have time to think.
From Albert and me, we wish each of you the Hope, Peace, Joy and Love that this Season brings
us. May each of us have a personal encounter with the Christ Child.

Boston Butt Sale…12/20/19
Are you already stressing about how
you will be able to get everything done during the
hectic holiday season…then let Salkehatchie help you with the
cooking! Everyone knows that the week before Christmas is a
busy, busy week with the wrapping, cleaning, baking and
cooking just to name a few of the multitude of activities going
on. Why not enjoy a delicious Boston butt during those days
and leave your oven free for those scrumptious cookies and
pies that you will be baking? The Trinity Salkehatchie team
has your back (along with your stomach and your sanity). We
will be selling Boston butts (~10lb. average), including
homemade sauce for $35 each. If you are one of those super
organized kinds of people who has already meal prepped and
frozen your meals for that week, you can still pass on the
Christmas spirit by donating a Boston Butt to Trinity’s ASAP
program. The butts will be ready for pick-up on Friday,
December 20th between 2:00 and 4:00pm in the Fellowship
Hall. See the insert in the bulletin to order.
The proceeds will be used to assist those attending Penn Center
and North Strand camps as well as helping provide materials
used to repair the homes. If you have any questions, please
contact Cathy Windell at 843-446-6054 or email:

Light keepers
Sunday Nights from 5 pm - 6:30 pm
All elementary-aged kids are welcome!
Jesus tells us in John 8 that He is the light of the world! What a great feeling to know that no
matter where we are or what we are facing we always have His light to help us through it. We
are never alone! We hope that on Sunday nights children through lessons, crafts, music and
games learn more about their savior who loves them. We are all His Light keepers!
AMPLIFIED YOUTH
All middle and high school students are invited to join us. We are meeting Sunday nights from 5 pm until 6:30 pm (December 1st and 8th). We will integrate
music, scripture, prayer and plenty of fun along the way also. We hope to see you Sunday Night!
Amplified will be eating out, traveling from
home to home, on Sunday night,
December 15th. We will LEAVE the
church at 3:45 pm. We will see you that
night; just make sure you come hungry!
Our children will be helping with our Christmas
Cantata. We are in search of shepherds and
angels . If you have your own costume, you can
wear it, and we can help you if you need one.
The cantata is at both services on Sunday,
December 15th. Please contact Charles
with any questions.
Want to be in a parade? We would love for you and your
family to take part in the North Myrtle Beach Christmas
parade! The parade is Saturday, December 7th. We will be
getting in line around 4:30 pm. Contact Charles with any
questions you have about taking part!

News from the
TRINITY UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God,
and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and
to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Around the Circle(s)
Dot Jordan is sponsoring a United Methodist missionary each month by commemorating one missionary’s birthday
through prayer and a monetary gift. Our December meeting is a Christmas dinner at the home of Thelma Mitchell at
5:30 pm. We will provide Christmas for a family chosen by Laurie Ritter.
Love will have it’s annual holiday luncheon at Brightwater on December 5th, 11:30 am, Janet Osgood hosting.
Members will also assemble 60 holiday gifts for ASAP.
Susanna Wesley will celebrate the season together on Thursday, December 5th, 11:30 am, at The Grill House. Six
members of Susanna Wesley, along with other volunteers, filled 1,000 bags of Christmas gifts for children of
deployed military. Sore backs, soaring hearts!
In this season of good news to the world that Jesus is born, we have some good news to share also. Last
year at this time, UMW was having a fundraiser through Atlantic Stage Theatre to raise money for a bus for
Wallace Family Life Center, a UMW mission. Through the grace of God, we raised over $6,000! This Christ-
mas we are overjoyed to announce that Wallace has just purchased a bus! GOD IS GOOD!

A Letter from Matthew Black
Dear Trinity,
I sent my Angel Tree application to
the chaplain around July. Hopefully,
Trinity will get Kam’s name again.
He enjoyed his gifts last year so
much and was so very thankful. The
Angel Tree camp sounds awesome. I
have thought about the opportunity to
help incarcerated individuals and
their children in some way after I am
released. Thank you for doing it
now.
In Christ,
Matthew Black

Because of your generosity, we raised $3673.00 for SHOES THAT GROW. That is 244 pair of shoes plus a few
dollars extra. Thank you so much for supporting this project.
At our Cupcake sale on the 17th we raised 681.00 to help feed our 60 veterans. Thank you for your support. I
would like to thank Rita and Ken Ledbetter who cooked and coordinated this fundraiser. I would also like to thank
all those who worked on Saturday and Sunday. What a great team we have working on ASAP!
Master’s Meal - If you are interested in helping with this mission, please contact Linda Jones (864-680-3994) or
Cathey Grant (704-737-2161). Linda and Cathey are the co-chairs of Master’s Meal.
Miracle of Hope at the Beach – Hopefully you read the article by Bob Jentilucci about this mission and the letter
from one of the families who received this blessing. Bob is looking for some new members for this mission. If you
would like to help, please call Bob at 724-777-1745. We would like to expand this next year, so Bob is looking for
housing near the beach. If you have a place and would be willing to donate a week to one of these families, please
give Bob a call. AND, OF COURSE, donations of money are always appreciated. Mark your envelope for “Miracle
of Hope.” If you have any questions, Bob is the man with the answers or you can give me a call and I will try to an-
swer your questions.

but it might be a treat to give them something different. The 15-16 oz. jar is the perfect size. Thank you for your
support of ASAP. We could not help our veterans without it!
I realize that as Mission Chairperson I ask you for a lot. It seems that there is always someone or some group that
needs our help. There is a lot of need in our area and around the world. We are a blessed congregation and you
have always supported missions for which I am truly thankful. May God continue to bless you and TUMC as we
continue to help those in need.

through their purchasing support.
Since our first Holiday Bazaar netted $500 in

DECEMBER MUSIC
Tradition, Tradition ,Tradition
Tradition is a wonderful thing, espe-
cially during the Christmas season. And
one of the most wonderful traditions
that we have developed here at Trinity
United Methodist Church is an evening
with festive Brass of Myrtle Beach. For the past 13 years,
they have brought us an incredible evening of joy, peace, love
and entertainment. From their instruments they truly emit
the sounds of the season. Coming from Brooklyn, New York
and remembering the Salvation Army bands who played on
street corners during Christmas, Festive Brass takes me back
to my childhood, and I'm sure they will do the same for
you. Please come and share this special evening with us on
Monday, December 9th at 6:30 p.m.. As with all of our
concerts, the admission is totally free, so bring your family
and friends for this incredible night of blessings . For more
information, please contact Rev. Ed at 843-421-7257 or the
church office at 843-272-5236.
Blue Christmas Service
Tuesday,
December 17, 2019
7 pm
Blue Christmas is a special holiday service
for anyone whose holidays may be difficult
to enjoy. Many things can steal the joy of
the season, such as the loss of a loved one,
a life-altering disease, diagnosis, or injury
or a major life transition (divorce, loss of
job, or change in life independence).
This candlelight service offers:
Strength for Today
Courage for Tomorrow
Peace from the Past
The evening is full of reflection, beautiful
music and the inspiration of hope, all in
the company of others also feeling “blue”
this season. Please join us in sharing the
hope that we are never alone in life's
struggles no matter the time of year.
