Continuous flow

The Stranda Triplo fish pump has been developed to provide continuous filling and near continuous delivery. With this pump, you will not need to crowd the fish as hard, because it sucks in fish 100 % of the time, and fish are not swimming away from the suction cone when the pump cycle swithces between tanks.

Why three tanks? One tank is filling water and fish from the inlet, one tank is pushing water and fish to the outlet, and then we have the third. In a vacuum pump, a tank is full of pressurized air when the delivery cycle is completed. This pressure must be vented, and some vacuum must be established (vacuum priming), before the filling of water and fish begins. Venting and vacuum priming is what is taking place in the third tank of the Triplo pump.

When filling starts in a vacuum primed tank, the water and fish flow into it almost instantly, thanks to the momentum of the flowing water in the inlet pipe. This momentum is kept until the tank is full, as the air inside the tank is constantly evacuated.

Electrically driven compressors evacuate air from and compress air into the tanks. We call these power packs. There is a designated power pack for each tank. The work is performed by a liquid ring compressor, directly driven by an electric motor. These are installed on a stainless steel frame, complete with cooling water manifold, air cycle manifold, silencer and motor starter.

The Stranda Triplo pump is normally used in applications at the fish farms. High capacity, good fish welfare and easy cleaning are the main design drivers. The capacity depends on the pipe diameter and the size of fish. In our present program, we have pumps ranging from 60 tonnes/hr (DN350) and up to 300 tonnes /hr (DN600). We can also build smaller versions.
