Product description

Tripod Turnstile is a complete, compact access control point. It combines motorized rotating barrier with RFID and/or barcode readers to control entrance and exit. Because everything is integrated into a single housing, it reduces required space for passage. For exit control a patented Metra Wristband Capturer can be integrated to allow ticket retain feature. The storage drawer for captured wristbands and/or cards is incorporated in the housing that is a combination of stainless steel body in brushed finish and synthetic or carbon fibre reinforced resin cover. Fluent pedestrian passage is achieved by combination of visual LED and audio signalization and proximity sensors triggering motor driven rotating barrier. The drive was designed and proven to prevent any injury but is tough enough to withstand misuse at the same time. The barriers are free rotating if the mains power is down and can also be equipped with a special breaking fuse (mechanical) for the case of panic.

Tripod Turnstile User Manual

Tripod Turnstile is connected to Metra NET Network. When RFID/ barcode ticket is presented, access rights are checked in the Metra software check engines. If valid, the unit drives its rotating barrier in desired direction. Passage on Tripod Turnstile for a particular ticket can also be externally controlled by 3rd

party SW via TCP/IP software interface. Metra software is used for event analyses and definition of operating parameters. Ticket retain feature allows re-using of various tickets. For that innovative feature Metra has developed patented in 1998 contact-less Wristband Capturer (WBC) together with contactless RFID Wristband. The Wristband Capturer grants exit signal only when the ticket is successfully erased and retained. This dramatically cuts costs of the system operation and the chance of fraud. A ticket will be retained under following conditions:

Retain request written on it/assigned to it.

It is presented to the retaining device.

RFID ticket presentation

Reading ticket

Approach the ticket’s RFID media tag to the antenna field. Reading distance of the tag is 3 to 5 centimetres from the antenna field. When the tag is recognized the status of pass will be indicated by an acoustic signal and illuminated indicator.

Passing with ticket

When the ticket is approached to the antenna field, content of ticket’s tag is detected by the reader and if it is recognized as a valid ticket, activated short beep acoustic signal indicates that passage is allowed. Signal panel indicates a direction of passage. Green arrow illuminates until passage is not completed. When we approach the tripod barrier, proximity optical sensor* gives signal to system which starts moving tripod barrier and enables smooth passage. Within 30 seconds after the ticket was approached to antenna field a passage must be completed. If not, green arrow turns off and passage is not possible anymore.

* If proximity optical sensors are turned off, tripod barrier starts moving after it is slightly pushed in the direction of passage.

Passage with ticket retain (system with Wristband Capturer)

* If proximity optical sensors are turned off, tripod barrier starts moving after it is slightly pushed in the direction of passage.

On exit ticket is approached to antenna field, content of ticket’s tag is detected by the reader inside turnstile and the door of wristband capturer opens. Ticket is put inside the Wristband Capturer and after the ticket is recognized by the system the door closes. After the ticket is successfully retained, activated short beep acoustic signal indicates that passage is allowed.

Passage is not allowed

Invalid ticket is refused by system. Several beep acoustic signals inform us that passage is not allowed. Red cross (X) illuminates on the light panel simultaneously.

Barcode ticket presentation

Reading ticket

Approach the barcode to the scanner. Scanning distance is 0 to 1 centimetre from the scanning window. When the code is recognized the status of pass will be indicated by an acoustic signal and illuminated indicator.

Invalid ticket is refused by system. Several beep acoustic signals inform us that passage is not allowed. Red cross (X) illuminates on the light panel simultaneously. NOTE: In combo systems red cross is only avaliable for one of the exit terminals e.g. for Barcode scanner only or for RFID only.

Master card presentation

Reading master card

Approach the Master card to the antenna field. Reading distance of the card is 3 to 5 centimetres from the antenna field. When the card is recognized the status of pass will be indicated by an acoustic signal and illuminated indicator.

Free passing with master card

When the Master card is approached to the antenna field, content of the card is detected by the reader and if it is recognized as a valid Master card, activated short beep acoustic signal indicates that passage is allowed.

Permanent free passage

With the Master card approach to the antenna field and hold the card in the field for more than 4 seconds until second short beep acoustic signal is activated. This enables permanent free passage. Signal panel indicates a direction of permanent free passage. Green arrow illuminates permanently or until permanent free passage is disabled. When we approach tripod barrier, proximity optical sensor* gives signal to system which starts moving tripod barrier and enables smooth passage.

* If proximity optical sensors are turned off, tripod barrier starts moving after it is slightly pushed in the direction of passage.

You can repeat this procedure on both sides and allow permanent free passage in both directions. To disable permanent free passage approach the Master card to the antenna field and hold the card in the field for more than 4 seconds until second short beep is activated. Free passage function disables and simultaneously green arrow turns off. You can disable permanent free passage on one side at a time. To disable permanent free passage on both sides repeat the disable procedure on both sides.

Wristband container Ticket container is placed inside the Tripod Turnstile beneath wristband capturer either on the left or on the right side. Container can hold up to 190 tickets if Wristbands are used or even more if Clips are used. The amount of tickets can be detected through control window on the container. NOTE When ticket container is full the system warns us that wristband capturer cannot accept tickets anymore and the passage is not possible. You must collect tickets from the container.

STEP 1: Unlock the cover on the side where the wristband capturer is located. After turning the key in the clockwise direction slightly pull the key upwards to lift the cover.

STEP 2: Slide the cover forwards.

STEP 3: Take out the plastic container and empty it. Reinsert the container and close the cover.
