Suitable Donor BikesThe kit is designed to fit the Sprint, Trident, Daytona, Trophy & Speed Triple models which were manufactured from 1992 - 1996 (a few were made later). It will also fit the later Trophy models made up to 2002. All these bikes have the T300 engine with carburettors and the spine frame.

When it comes to finding a donor bike the price and condition should be the first consideration. The engine and frame will be on display so look at that to check if the finish is still ok. Sometimes a model with a fairing will have protected the motor from the worst of the weather. The instrument module supplied with the CRK Kit is designed to accept the instruments fitted to Sprint & Daytona models. The Trident and most Trophy instruments are not suitable so the correct instruments will need to be sourced secondhand. Similarly bikes fitted with the big cast alloy touring footrest hangers such as Sprint Executive and later Trophy models will need to have them swapped for the earlier type. The Daytona and Sprint models are probably the best bet if the price and condition is ok.

Will the kit fit the 1200 four cylinder models ?The kit will fit the 4 cylinder model as all the bikes shared the same basic frame and cycle parts. There are one or two small differences between the bikes and we have developed alternative parts for the 1200 models.

What different parts are supplied to make the kit fit the four cylinder models ?

The fuel tank has the petrol tap in a different position so that it will not clash with the engine. The carburettors are higher on the 1200 so it may be necessary to add some small cut outs to the bottom of the tank cover for clearance but this is easy as it is just the fibreglass that needs trimming before painting. The radiator cover to suit the 1200 is a little bigger.The instrument module for the later Trophy models is bigger to accept the larger speedo and tacho with the chrome bezels. 

I've got a Thunderbird in the shed, will your kit fit this ? Unfortunately, our kit doesn't fit the Thunderbird, Tiger or Adventurer. This is because their frame is built differently and the clocks have a different shape.

What is involved in carrying out the conversion ?The conversion requires that the original subframe fitted to bike is removed and replaced with the CRK unit. The original subframe is welded construction so the instructions explain how it can be cut away from the main frame. The CRK Subframe can then be bolted in position and the remaining parts of the kit built around it.

Are there instructions with the kit ?Yes, there is a very detailed build manual provided with the kit. It takes you step by step through the whole process of building your bike. There are photographs of each stage in the build and it includes information about:

• Preparing the donor bike. • Strip down. • Installing the kit parts. • Wiring and connectors. • Tips and Tricks.

CRK are also available by phone or email to support you with more technical things you may not feel confident with.

Is there any welding required ?No, the new subframe and all the other parts supplied with the kit are bolted in position.

Does the Subframe come ready painted ?Yes, the subframe and associated metalwork is supplied in textured black or metallic grey to match the original Triumph frame colours. If you want the subframe supplied bare metal to do your own painting that can be arranged also.

Does the tank come ready painted ? The fibreglass parts (Tank, Seat Base & Front Mudguard) are supplied in black gelcoat. They will need to be sanded & filled prior to painting. Find yourself a good auto painter or have a go yourself ! You can use your creativity this way and give your bike a touch of uniqueness.

What equipment will I need to build the bike ?If you have a shed, garage or workshop, tools such as spanners, screwdrivers etc and some understanding of mechanical processes you will be able to manage the build. Most of our customers enjoy the experience of creating their bikes.

How long will it take to build the bike ?The CRK modifications take about 40 hours on average. You may spend more time if you are re-furbishing parts of the bike or doing your own paintwork. We have had customers build a bike in two weeks and others have taken several months, as long as you enjoy it that’s ok by us.

Can I order the seat without the tank ?We don't encourage this because the two items rely on one another for mounting points. However we understand that some more experienced builders may want to do their own thing for the tank so the subframe can be bought separately if required.

What do I do with all the parts after the strip down ?Sell them! This will help to fund your project.
