WELCOME

We are blessed you are worshipping with us this morning, If you are unfamiliar with Orthodox practice we would like to provide some simple instructions.

Prayers upon Entering Church: When you enter into the holy church, cross yourself and consciously drive away all of your cares and worries, and silently or quietly say this prayer:“I rejoiced when they said to me: Let us go to the house of the Lord. I enter your house with thanksgiving, O Lord, and worship in your holy temple in fear of you. Guide me, Lord, in your righteousness; direct your path before me, that unhindered, with a pure heart and an upright spirit, I may glorify one Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.”

You will see the faithful going before the icon of Christ and the icon of the Birth-giver of Christ to venerate them. The practice is to cross yourself twice while reading the prayers on the Christ icon stand, cross yourself again when done and then go to the Birth-giver of God icon stand doing likewise.

You are free to sit at different times during the Divine Liturgy. However, out of respect to God, we ask that you stand during the following: censing, entrance with the Gospel, reading of the Gospel, when the priest gives a blessing, during the Creed, the Lord’s Prayer (Our Father), during the pre-communion prayers, and during Communion/ Eucharist. When in doubt, ask the priest!

Prayers upon Leaving Church: After venerating the icons and the cross, as you exit the church, turn towards the altar, cross yourself and quietly or silently say this prayer: “Lord my God, I entrust my entire life to You and I pray: Help me, save me and show Your loving-kindness to me; grant that I may live wisely, and may the end of my life be Christian, unashamed and peaceful; keep me from all the evils an attacks of the enemy. On Your fearful judgement day, show Your kindness to me, Your servant, and number me among the sheep at Your right hand, that together with them I may glorify You unto all ages. Amen.”

Memorial Saturday Tone 8

Only Creator, with wisdom profound, You mercifully order all things, / and give that which is needed to all men: / Give rest, O Lord, to the souls of Your servants who have fallen asleep, / for they have placed their trust in You, our Maker and Fashioner, and our God.

Troparion St. Eutychius Patriarch of Constantinople Tone 4

In truth you were revealed to your flock as a rule of faith, / an image of humility and a teacher of abstinence; / your humility exalted you; / your poverty enriched you. / Hierarch Father Eutychius, / entreat Christ our God / that our souls may be saved.

Troparion Ven Gregory the Byzantine Tone 5

You reflected the angelic life, / And your soul was a vessel of insight. / O holy Father Gregory, radiant torch of virtues, / The glory of Sinai and Athos and enlightener of the Slavic lands, / Guide us unerringly, that our souls may be saved!

For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name, in having served and continuing to serve the saints. But we passionately want each of you to demonstrate the same eagerness for the fulfillment of your hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherit the promises.Priest: Peace be to you, readerReader: And to your spirit. - Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.Choir: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.Reader: The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, and shall grow like a cedar in LebanonChoir: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.Reader: Those planted in the house of the Lord shall blossom forth in the courts of our God.

Mark 7:31-37:At that time, Jesus went out again from the region of Tyre and came through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee in the region of the Decapolis. They brought to him a deaf man who had difficulty speaking, and they asked him to place his hands on him. After Jesus took him aside privately, away from the crowd, he put his fingers in the man’s ears, and after spitting, he touched his tongue. Then he looked up to heaven and said with a sigh, “Ephphatha” (that is, “Be opened”). And immediately the man’s ears were opened, his tongue loosened, and he spoke plainly. Jesus ordered them not to tell anything. But as much as he ordered them not to do this, they proclaimed it all the more. People were completely astounded and said, “He has done everything well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”
