Yes, it’s good to have family in the wine business. In fact, it’s never been better, because Extended Family members now have access to a wide range of tangible, valuable and ongoing benefits. Our consumer family gets offers, behind-the-scenes access and opportunities that come directly from the SVVGA and, more importantly, members like you.

It all comes together to make the Extended Family one of the most original, comprehensive and compelling loyalty marketing programs ever offered by a wine region.

Remarkably this all comes at NO COST to Sonoma Valley Extended Family consumers. All we ask of these them is an active email address. Oh, and of course to spread the word about how much they love being a part of the Sonoma Valley Extended Family.

Once they log in, Family Members get access to a personalized landing page.Their name at the top serves as a digital membership badge. Below that are several benefit categories:

EXTENDED FAMILY OFFERS & EVENTS At the heart of the Extended Family program is an easy way for you to give Sonoma Valley wine consumers the family treatment. This is where you can offer unique experiences, insider access, special savings, first dib access to popular events, and other compelling offers to entice these well-connected wine lovers to frequent our region and your business. You can even connect offers to your Events so they link directly to our popular Event Calendar.

THE FAMILY ROOMThis is the SVVGA’s space to communicate with our consumer family. We’ll be keeping folks posted about the latest program news and announcements, along with fun surveys, polls, and promotions.

LOCAL’S CORNEREveryone loves an insider tip from an in-the-know insider. Local’s Corner gives SVVGA members a great way to extend the reach of the great content you’re already creating. Have a great blog post, a video, a restaurant or hiking trail tip? This is YOUR place to share it.

As part of our Extended Family integration you’ll find that we have made a host of enhancements to SonomaValleyWine.com to make it work harder for you, including changes to make your brand’s wine page more robust, more engaging, more social-media friendly and easier for consumers to find.

IMPROVED WINERY FINDER Visitors to SonomaValleyWine.com will now find it much easier to find your brand. The winery finder page has a simpler, more intuitive way to search for wineries. Visitors to the site can search by varietal, AVA, city and a variety of other search criteria using an easy user friendly interface.

EXPANDED WINERY PROFILES Not only will your winery profile page be easier to find, but it will also work much harder for you. We’ve redesigned the page to make it much more robust and content rich. These enhancements include:

• Integrated Google Maps for easy location/directions• Integration of Upcoming Winery Events• Integration of any Branded Extended Family content and/or offers• Integration of any relevant Blackboard content• Image Carousel featuring any images of your winery submitted by Extended Family members

QUICK START GUIDE

We’ve done everything we can to make the new Extended Family as easy and intuitive as possible for SVVGA members. So here’s an overview of the areas where you can reach consumers, and some simple instructions on how to make the most of the new Extended Family features.

HOW TO PUT THE NEW EXTENDED FAMILY TO WORK FOR YOU.

Click EDIT YOUR WINERY PROFILE to see all the elements in your winery profile page. You have the option to upload two unique images to your profile page, a SQUARE thumbnail image (220 pixels wide x 220 pixels tall), for use in the main winery listings page, and a RECTANGLE “landscape” beauty shot (750 pixels wide x 200 pixels tall) that will sit above your introductory copy on your profile page. We are recommending that wineries use logos for the smaller thumbnail shots and either vineyard or winery images for the beauty image, though any appropriately sized image will work.

Be sure to check all the boxes that apply, then confirm your ABOUT copy and contact information. Be sure not to duplicate information, and strive to keep your ABOUT copy informative but concise. When you’re done, hit UPDATE, then you can click VIEW YOUR WINERY PROFILE to see how it looks.

#2 OPTIMIZE YOUR PROFILE

#1 LOG INGo to the sonomavalleywine.com website and click on YOUR ACCOUNT in the lowest part of the page footer. Once you log in with your username and password (or sign up if this is your first time), you’ll get to your ACCOUNT page. From here you can manage all elements of your Profile and Add offers and content to the Extended Family.

QUICK START GUIDE

On your ACCOUNT page, click ADD AN OFFER. From here you can give your offer a title, a date, or range of dates that the offer is valid, upload an image (again, 640 pixels wide is best) and provide both a short and long description of the offer. Click SUBMIT when done

CREATING OFFERS

Keep in mind, your offer will appear in two places. On the EXTENDED FAMILY landing page, it shows up as a thumbnail under EXTENDED FAMILY OFFERS where only the title, date and a one sentence description will appear.

Once a Family Member clicks the thumbnail, they will be taken to a full-page version of the offer that displays the full image and the full description.

QUICK START GUIDE

As part of our Extended Family integration, you now have the opportunity to market your existing events to family members by tying an offer to them. The system will link this offer on the Extended Family Offers page directly to the main events page and visa versa.

On your ACCOUNT page, click ADD AN EVENT. To add an Extended Family offer to an event you are setting up, click the CREATE AN EXTENDED FAMILY OFFER box. Checking this box will generate a number of offer related fields.

From here you can give your offer a title, define dates that the offer is valid, and provide both a short and long description of the offer. When you are done with the offer related fields you can continue input information on the overall event itself. Click SUBMIT when done.

Your event tied offer will appear in two places. On the EXTENDED FAMILY landing page, it shows up as a thumbnail under EXTENDED FAMILY OFFERS. Clicking on the thumbnail will take family members to the full offer/event detail. On the main EVENTS page the related EF offer will appear under the main event description.

QUICK START GUIDE

Compelling content is key these days in keeping consumers interested and engaged with your business. The Locals Corner is aimed at giving you an additional avenue to share all that great content with Sonoma Valley Wine’s engaged followers. A great blog post, a video, a restaurant or hiking trail tip, this is your place to share them, and connect with our engaged consumers.

Click SUBMIT A LOCAL’S CORNER from your ACCOUNT page. Just like creating an offer, fill in the Title, Name, Descriptions and, in this case, a location, address and website if that’s relevant. Click SUBMIT when done. As Local’s Corner posts are editorial in nature they must first be reviewed and approved by the SVVGA before they are published on the site.

As with EF Offers, Local’s Corner posts will appear in two places. On the EXTENDED FAMILY landing page, they show up as a thumbnail under LOCAL’S CORNER where only the title, who posted, and their winery affiliation will appear.

Once a Family Member clicks the thumbnail, they will again be taken to a full-page version of the post that displays the full image and copy.

We hope you are as excited as we are about the potential that this pioneering program has to take our region to the next level of consumer engagement. Beyond putting your best foot forward on the website, here are a few ways to make sure the Extended Family works well for you.

MAKE COMPELLING OFFERS We’ll be driving influential wine consumers to the Extended Family. What they find there in terms of offers will determine whether they find the program beneficial and stay engaged. Attractive offers will drive well qualified wine consumers to your door, so treat them like friends and family and take advantage of this unique opportunity to attract new and loyal customers.

STAY FRESHStay Fresh – Put a system in place to make sure you keep your profile up to date, but most importantly, add offers and Local’s Corner content regularly. This should only take a few minutes, but the rewards of staying connected with the Extended Family are well worth it.

GET THE STAFF INVOLVED Extended Family members will be coming to Sonoma Valley looking for member wineries that are part of the program. Be ready for them. Ensure your staff knows to look for the online badge that identifies Family Members and make sure they know what the current offers are. We are, after all, the world’s most welcoming wine region, and we treat our family, well, like family.
