Admin Features Access Thank you for choosing TrueLook webcams! In this guide we will cover the basic admin-only controls and settings for your camera system.

You can easily identify any admin-only features by their orange color scheme. Any links, buttons, or pages with an orange color are cannot be seen by non-admin users.

To access the admin controls, you must be logged in as a user assigned with the “admin” role. You must also be on a tablet or larger-sized screen. Admin features are disabled on smartphone-sized screens.

Admin features include:

• Create new time-lapses• Edit time-lapses• Moderate photo albums • Save PTZ preset views• Edit the “Project Info” page• Moderate user accounts• Set up direct links (no password required)• Assign email addresses for automated project updates• Access security recordings

Getting Started

Where Do I View My Camera?Log in to your camera at www.TrueLook.com/tl/app. Your login credentials have been provided to you in a separate document. Contact TrueLook if you need assistance.

Mobile AccessTrueLook’s interface is built upon a responsive website, meaning it will work on just about any sized device. The interface “responsively” adapts to fit your screen.

On mobile devices you may see a prompt asking if you would like to save a shortcut. This will create a bookmark so you can launch it as if it were an app. This is completely optional, it simply gives you a quicker way to access the interface.

Project PagesThe left-hand menu contains links to various “pages” within your interface. You will always begin at the “Camera View”, which gives you a view from your camera. Select any other menu item to view its contents. For example, select “Time-Lapses” to view your time-lapse media.

The interface is designed to be completely intuitive, with self-explanatory controls. Feel free to click around and familiarize yourself with the various interface elements. If you ignore the orange admin features for now, you are in no danger of messing up any settings.

Navigating The Camera Image (Zooming & Movement)Fixed-Position Cameras

Your mousewheel can be used to quickly zoom in and out. Once you have zoomed in, click-and-drag the image to move it around. You can also double-click to quickly zoom in and out. The control panel (upper right) also gives you a zoom slider and zoom controls, as well as a reset button to quickly return to normal.

Pan-Tilt-Zoom Cameras

The simplest way to control a PTZ camera is by using the control panel (upper right). Zooming and moving the camera using these buttons is easy, but can take much longer to get around. Using your mouse will let you move the camera more precisely.

Click-and-drag on the image to draw a box, and the camera will zoom itself to your selection. A single-click anywhere on your image will center the camera to where you have clicked. For example, clicking on the left edge of the image will move the camera left.

A viewfinder can be found near the bottom of the interface - open the viewfinder to see a panorama image of your entire viewable range.

Your mouse controls will also work within this viewfinder, making it very easy to draw a selection with your mouse and zoom to a specific location.

TrueLook Time-LapsesThe first thing you may want to do with your new camera is to set up a time-lapse. The camera will automatically take pictures at a set interval. These pictures are automatically turned into a time-lapse video for you, and the images can also be browsed at any time. By the end of your project, you will have a nice video of your project coming together. This also means you can always go “back in time” to view past images from your project.

Scheduling A New Time-LapseFirstly, you must be on the “Camera View” page of the TrueLook interface. For PTZ cameras, ensure that the camera is aimed exactly where you want to create your time-lapse. Now look for the “New Time-Lapse” menu button, found within the left-hand menu.

Clicking this will open the “Create Time-Lapse” dialogue box. You can now give your time-lapse a name and set its schedule.

Select a start and end date for this time-lapse. The camera will only take pictures on these dates. You may not be sure of your end date, so simply pick a date far into the future and you can always stop the time-lapse at a later time.

Next, decide if you want to take multiple pictures per day, or just one picture each day. The most common setting is every 15 minutes (multiple times per day). Once you click the “Create Time-Lapse” button, it will run at your assigned times.

You can then create more time-lapses by repeating this process. TrueLook automatically staggers your start times by a few minutes to help prevent time-lapses from interfering with each other.

Editing Time-LapsesOnce you have scheduled a time-lapse, it will appear in the “Time-Lapses” page. It is possible to alter the schedule of a time-lapse at any time, but be careful doing this mid-project. This can be done by clicking the “Edit” button on any specific time-lapse.

Once you open the edit dialogue box, you can adjust your settings or choose to temporarily pause the time-lapse. If you are finished with a time-lapse and ready to end it, simply change the end date so the camera knows not to take any more photos. If a time-lapse has an end date set in the past, it will automatically consinder itself “Completed”.

Moderate Photo AlbumsPhoto albums have a “Moderate” button (upper right). Simply click this to enable moderation, and you will be able to delete entries from your interface.

Moderate PTZ PresetsJust like photo albums, you can moderate a PTZ camera’s preset views. However, you also have a couple of other options. Firstly, you can save new presets. Just aim the camera where you want to create a preset, then open the Preset Views and click “Save Preset”.

Once you enable moderation within the Preset Views, you can delete unwanted presets. You can also set one of your preset views as the default. This tells the camera to move to this preset when you first log in to the interface.

Edit Your Project Info PageYour “Project Info” page lets your team members or visitors learn more about your project, view your company information, visit links, or view any other information you choose to share. It also loads a map of your project location and a 5-day weather forecast.

Click the Edit Page button (upper right) to enable editing. You can now assign a title and description, upload a company logo, add hyperlinks, or edit the zip code for the map/weather.

Admin Settings - User AccountsClick the Admin Settings menu item and select the “User Accounts” tab. Here you will be able to moderate your users.

You can create or delete login credentials for other users and assign them to specific roles. Each role has access to different camera features:

User accounts are specific to individual projects. If you want a user to have access to multiple projects, you must create the user on each project. You can easily add users from another project using the dropdown selection.

Admin Settings - Sharing LinksSometimes it may be more convenient to use a direct link rather than a user login. For example, emailing a group with a direct link is easier than requiring your recipients to log in. You can create these shareable links under the “Sharing Links” tab of the Admin Settings area.

You may want your shareable link to include “Team Member” level features such as media exports and statistics. Or, you may not. So first, decide what type of access you want your link to have. Then simply click the “Generate” button for that type of user role.

Embedding The Interface On Your Website

The shared link is also used to embed the interface on your website. Still within the “Sharing Links” tab, you will see the proper HTML code necessary to embed the interface on your site. Give this HTML code to your web developer and he/she can designate a space on your website for the interface.

Revoke A Shared Link

Once a link is generated, you can then revoke it so that the link no longer works. Simply click the “Delete” button to do this. Just to repeat - once you delete the link, it will no longer work. Anyone who was using this shared link will be denied access. If you used this shared link to embed the interface on your website, this will also break!

Admin Settings - Email SubscriptionsTo receive project updates via email, select the “Email Subscriptions” tab within the Admin Settings. You can create email subscriptions for yourself or colleagues. Set a frequency and time of day for the email, and TrueLook will email you the most recent image from your webcam at that time.

HD Security RecordingsFixed-Position Cameras Only. Select the Security Recordings menu item. You will see a list of video recordings that have been stored on your camera. A dropdown calendar will let you choose previous dates. Your camera has about enough storage to save the past 7 days of video.

You can now choose to fetch any number of video recordings over the cloud. Select your desired events to review and click the “Fetch Selected Recording(s)” button. You will receive an email when they are ready. This usually only takes a minute or two per recording, so you may not need to wait long.

Once the videos have been fetched from your camera to the TrueLook cloud service, you can play them as HD videos or save them to your device for review.

Be MindfulThe Admin Features offer great control over your camera’s configurations. Be careful with settings that you are unfamiliar with, and do not grant admin-level access to other users unless you are SURE they should have control of your settings!
